All eyes are pointed towards the upcoming 50th anniversary of Emmerdale<\/a> in October.<\/p>\n

We now know there\u2019s going to be a whole month of drama, but will peak in a massive and ambitious stunt week centred around a treacherous storm.<\/p>\n

RadioTimes.com<\/a> got all the gossip from the production team, as well as two stars heavily involved in the storylines, Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) and Katherine Dow-Blyton (Harriet Finch) during a recent visit to the set of Emmerdale, which kicked off their first day of filming.<\/p>\n

Emmerdale 50th anniversary preview: 11 spoilers for soap\u2019s birthday month<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1. A storm will change the village forever<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The action will centre around a massive storm which throws the village into chaos. While we don\u2019t know much about the exact repercussions of such a terrible weather event, it\u2019s safe to say almost everyone will be caught up in the strong gales. Speaking at the press event, producer Kate Brooks teased: \u201cAs part of our big 50th week, we will focus on a massive storm that\u2019s going to rip through the village and absolutely leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake. Some of our best-loved villagers will be in peril, and it\u2019s safe to say that literally the village won\u2019t be the same after this \u2013\u00a0and it will never be the same again because the impact this storm has on people\u2019s lives is just massive.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cIt\u2019s quite unprecedented in terms of what we\u2019re doing and the scale of what we\u2019re doing, and we certainly think there\u2019s elements of the big storm week that I\u2019ve not seen on a soap opera before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Executive producer Jane Hudson added: \u201cAll the stories being told across this month are stories that we\u2019ve been building across the year, nothing has been shoe-horned in. The stories are driven by the characters, and they all have an impact. It involves so many of our families; it\u2019s not just a storm that affects one small group, it affects the entire village.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. Kim Tate and Will Taylor\u2019s wedding is interrupted by Harriet Finch<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One of the major storylines of the month features the highly anticipated wedding of Kim Tate (Claire King) and Will Taylor (Dean Andrews).<\/p>\n

The upcoming nuptials were always going to cause mayhem (what else would happen at a Tate wedding?!) but it\u2019s promised to be particularly explosive this time around because of one person who gets in the way: Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow-Blyton).<\/p>\n

Keen to declare her love before it\u2019s too late, Harriet confesses her true feelings to Will \u2013\u00a0but she doesn\u2019t realise she\u2019s being overheard by Kim\u2026 uh oh.<\/p>\n

Dow-Blyton shared: \u201cHarriet\u2019s once again got herself mixed up with men problems. She\u2019s involved because she\u2019s getting wrapped up in Will\u2019s life a little too much than she should perhaps be, so that has an impact on his upcoming nuptials.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m playing with fire there, but it\u2019s last chance saloon. She\u2019s got to make her feelings known before he walks down the aisle. There will be fireworks and more fireworks \u2013\u00a0we should be doing this on November 5th!\u201d<\/p>\n

3. The ghost of DI Malone haunts the village<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If that isn\u2019t enough, there\u2019s one body always in the back of Harriet, Kim and Will\u2019s minds: DI Malone (Mark Womack). Fans will recall he\u2019s certainly made his way around the village, buried here, there and everywhere. If there\u2019s one thing for certain, with a storm on the way, we highly doubt that\u2019s the last we\u2019ve heard of the tyrant.<\/p>\n

Dow-Blyton teased: \u201cThat\u2019s always going to be hovering in the background, isn\u2019t it, but I don\u2019t know, hand on heart, where Kim\u2019s put the body, so nothing to do with me anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooks chipped in: \u201cHe\u2019s quite far out of the village now, enjoying the quiet, peaceful countryside\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOr is he\u2026?\u201d Dow-Blyton joked. Is he?!<\/p>\n

4. Faith Dingle\u2019s cancer battle draws to a close<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In scenes that are set to be heartbreaking, Faith Dingle\u2019s (Sally Dexter) battle with cancer nears its end in October, putting Faith, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas\u2019s (Lucy Pargeter) complex family dynamic once more at the forefront.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the storyline, Hordley said: \u201cI\u2019m personally saddened at losing the brilliant Sally Dexter, but it will give us some great stories going forward, so I look forward to that. And that\u2019s as much as I know\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Hudson added: \u201cEveryone involved in that story is pulling out some of the most spectacular performances I\u2019ve seen in such a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

5. Amelia Spencer\u2019s baby is due<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Those who are good at maths will work out Amelia\u2019s due date falls very coincidentally around the time of the 50th anniversary celebrations \u2013\u00a0and in true soap style, the birth won\u2019t go to plan.<\/p>\n

Hudson said: \u201cAmelia is due soon, and whether or not she has the baby in the 50th celebration month, I\u2019m obviously not going to tell you!<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Amelia does play a very big part in the story and she needs to be found because she\u2019s stuck all alone, so she does play a very big part.\u201d<\/p>\n

Will Amelia and her baby pull through?<\/p>\n

6. Diane Sugden, Aaron Dingle and Tracy Metcalfe all return<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There\u2019s lovely news for fans as the Emmerdale team has confirmed three returning characters in the form of Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen), Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) on a \u201ctemporary basis\u201d.<\/p>\n

As for what they\u2019ll get up to, Tracy has a bombshell of her own to reveal, Diane\u2019s no doubt back in time for the Home Farm drama and Aaron, well\u2026<\/p>\n

7. Liv\u2019s mum causes mayhem<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hudson explained: \u201cIf you\u2019re watching Emmerdale at the moment, you\u2019ll know that Sandra\u2019s back and that story\u2019s building and that\u2019s got a huge part to play across the 50th.\u201d<\/p>\n

The drama isn\u2019t over for them both as returning character Aaron will have something to say to her and her wicked ways \u2013 so expect fireworks. \u201cWhat\u2019s he going to discover\u2026that Sandra\u2019s not all about Liv?\u201d Uh oh.<\/p>\n

8. Nate Robinson, Sam Dingle and Belle Dingle are in grave danger<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Emmerdale team have teased a stunt unlike any other ever seen in soap land \u2013\u00a0and one that will never be seen again. Intrigued?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s going to involve Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Sam Dingle (James Hooton).<\/p>\n

We just hope they all pull through, as they\u2019re some big characters to be caught up in such terrible danger.<\/p>\n

9. Chas Dingle and Al Chapman are rumbled<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re gonna get it on, you want the storm for cover,\u201d laughed Hudson.<\/p>\n

She went on to tease that Aaron will find out about his mum\u2019s affair, cheating on the man he sees as such a loving father. How will he react?<\/p>\n

And how will Cain react if he finds out his sister is seeing his enemy? Hordley teased: \u201cThey\u2019ve been circling each other for quite a while \u2013\u00a0they\u2019ve been circling each other because of COVID as well\u2026.which was the sensible thing to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, I think, you know, this is going to lead to something, if he finds out, so I think it could be fireworks, but not the kind you get in November.\u201d<\/p>\n

10. Murder in the Dales?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s always the potential for murder in Emmerdale \u2013\u00a0this is Emmerdale, there\u2019s normally a murderer lurking around the corner sometimes,\u201d Hudson teased, when asked if a storm could cover up a foul deed.<\/p>\n

Which does lead us nicely to\u2026<\/p>\n

11. One character faces jail<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Towards the end of the month, expect a big family-based storyline that could see a beloved end up in jail.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we get to the end of October, it might be the end of our celebrations, but we will be ending that month with a storyline which kicks off a whole new story and potentially sees one of our characters looking at spending the rest of their life in jail,\u201d revealed Hudson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re making sure that when our celebration ends, it\u2019s actually the beginning of a whole new chapter, particularly for one of our families.\u201d<\/p>\n

She wouldn\u2019t say much more than that, but count us fully in.<\/p>\n
