The film, which also stars Owen Wilson and child actor Walker Scobell (The Adam Project<\/a>), differs from the MCU in that it\u00a0 imagines things from the perspective of a superhero\u2019s son rather than the heroes themselves, and this was something that Pe\u00f1a found interesting to explore.<\/p> \u201cIt was an interesting angle,\u201d he told RadioTimes.com<\/a>. \u201cLike, you know, what do they [the kids] see? And it\u2019s true \u2013 if you\u2019re a superhero, that means you\u2019re probably not spending a lot of time at home.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe felt like that was something that we would have really liked seeing when we were kids,\u201d added co-director Henry Joost.<\/p>\n \u201cA story about friendship and about families and about kids saving the day. And I think when you\u2019re a kid, you kind of fantasise about having a secret headquarters of your own and beating up adults and playing with gadgets and driving before you have a driver\u2019s license.\u201d<\/p>\n Pe\u00f1a stars as the film\u2019s main villain Ansel Argon, a global arms dealer who soon finds himself facing off with some fearless kids, and he explained that playing \u201cfun or outrageous\u201d antagonists is always something that appeals to him.<\/p>\n And in this case, he said there was a very specific person he based his portrayal on.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought of this one guy \u2013 you know the pharma bro, Martin Shkreli,\u201d he said. \u201cI thought of how\u2026 you know, just adding in a little bit of him.<\/p>\n \u201cHe could have easily have played the part if he was an actor. So I kind of just had him in mind the entire time, you know like he stumbles and he stutters and it\u2019s just about what he<\/em> cares about, you know.\u201d<\/p>\n Secret Headquarters is available on Paramount Plus from Friday 12th August.
