The wildlife cameraman, who is also a presenter on Animal Park and has starred on the CBeebies show Let\u2019s Go for a Walk as Ranger Hamza, has admitted that his dance skills are \u201ccurrently at the level of \u20181970s disco vibe\u2019\u201d, but is \u201cready to work hard\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hamza is the 13th star to be announced as part of the 2022 line-up, alongside Will Mellor<\/a>, Kym Marsh<\/a>, Kaye Adams<\/a>, Richie Anderson<\/a>, Jayde Adams<\/a>, Ellie Simmonds<\/a>, Tyler West<\/a> and Matt Goss,<\/a>\u00a0 Ellie Taylor<\/a>, Molly Rainford<\/a>, Tony Adams<\/a> and Fleur East<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The news was announced by DJ David Farrell on BBC Radio Scotland\u2019s The Afternoon Show today (11th August 2022).<\/p>\n

Hamza was unable to join him live on air because of filming, but sent over a voice note for listeners.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019m sure all of the contestants for Strictly this year got a phone call saying that they are going to be on Strictly, whereas for me, I\u2019m the odd one out. I got a satellite text message notification from my agent saying in capital letters, \u2018you are on Strictly woop, woop!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an amazing, amazing experience so far and I\u2019m sure being on the show is going to be even better.\u00a0I honestly can\u2019t wait. I\u2019m over the moon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Viewers will recognise Hamza as one of the hosts of BBC\u2019s Animal Park and a guest presenter on BBC\u2019s Countryfile, where he shares his knowledge about wildlife with viewers.<\/p>\n
Younger viewers will recognise him from CBeebies live-action show Let\u2019s Go For A Walk where he appeared as Ranger Hamza.<\/p>\n
When he was younger, Hamza, who was born in Sudan, moved to Scotland, where he was able to follow his dream of filming Scottish wildlife and becoming a wildlife cameraman.<\/p>\n
What has Hamza Yassin\u00a0said about joining Strictly 2022?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Speaking about taking to the dance floor, Hamza Yassin said: \u201cI am absolutely over the moon to be joining Strictly 2022. Never in a million years did I think I\u2019d be on such a cool show.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cI\u2019ve been watching it for years and I can\u2019t believe I\u2019ll actually be there dancing live in front of the British public. My dance skills are currently at the level of \u20181970s disco vibe\u2019 but I\u2019m ready to work hard and will be shaking it every time I get the chance \u2013 shake it \u2018til you make it!\u201d<\/p>
When does Strictly Come Dancing 2022 start?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
The start date is yet to be announced for Strictly 2022, but we do know that the launch show will be recorded on Wednesday 7th September.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s likely that the new season will kick off on Saturday 10th September, with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcoming the new line-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cDust off your dancing shoes, Strictly Come Dancing is back,\u201d the hosts said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe stunning 20th series returns, bringing glamour and show-stopping dancing back to Saturday nights on BBC One \u2013 and we\u2019re extremely excited to be able to welcome an audience back to the studio for this year\u2019s shows.\u201d<\/p>\n
