Nicola Walker and Sean Bean are returning to our screens in BBC\u2019s latest drama, Marriage.<\/p>\n

The four-part drama, written and directed by Stefan Golaszewski (Mum and Him & Her), casts Walker and Bean<\/a> as married couple Ian and Emma, alongside James Bolam as Emma\u2019s father and Henry Lloyd-Hughes as her boss.<\/p>\n

Of course, fans of Bean (Game of Thrones,<\/a>\u00a0Snowpiercer)<\/a>\u00a0may be expecting\u00a0some high drama or surprising twists from the new show, but Bean recently told RadioTimes.com<\/strong> that Marriage<\/a> was a show where \u201cpeople will be able to see many things that they can relate to in their own lives and their own relationships\u201d, adding that \u201cthere aren\u2019t any big stunts or reveals, it\u2019s just a very simple story; simply told, about people and the complications of daily life\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bean also went on to point out that the series \u201conly takes place over 12 days or so\u201d and that \u201cit\u2019s an extract of that time\u201d in his character Ian and Walker\u2019s character Emma\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cHowever, what is in those days is rich, revealing and you see what a relationship is\u2026 what a marriage is. Their doubts, fears, joy, happiness and heartbreak that go into everyday living.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The official synopsis for Marriage says: \u201cMarriage follows married couple Ian (Sean Bean) and Emma (Nicola Walker) as they negotiate the ups and downs of their 30-year marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see them dealing with the insecurities, the ambiguities, the hopes and the fears that are part of all marriages, as the drama explores the risks and the gifts of a long-term intimate relationship. Sometimes funny, sometimes moving, always revealing.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a particularly naturalistic series, so the story charts the minutiae of Ian and Emma\u2019s everyday lives, rather than a big inciting incident or event.<\/p>\n

Actor Henry Lloyd-Hughes teased one particularly dramatic scene<\/a>\u00a0in a recent interview with RadioTimes.com<\/strong>, describing how disaster strikes when Emma is invited along to a two-day conference by her younger boss Jamie, who Ian is suspicious of.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the most unglamorous thing in the world and Jamie spends a lot of time pretending he is too cool for it and has no interest, but also that it is sexy and that he is a big deal there\u201d Lloyd-Hughes said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cFor Emma, it\u2019s tied in with her ambitions and another level of her career hopes and that Jamie has chosen her and only her. In name and spirit it\u2019s a promotion to be taken to the conference as his right hand person. Of course, from Ian\u2019s point of view, this is a real crack in their long held and very real marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n
