Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> in an exclusive interview, Seagull revealed that he\u2019s backing either House of Games presenter Richard Osman or documentarian Louis Theroux to become the next University Challenge presenter.<\/p>\n \u201cSo my dream would have been Richard Osman. He\u2019s got that wit but I think he can be stern,\u201d Seagull explained.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s obviously done Pointless and House of Games, but I think with Richard Osman, I suspect he might be just super busy, writing his books and the books being converted into films.\u201d<\/p>\n While Osman would be Seagull\u2019s \u201cideal choice\u201d, he also suggested Louis Theroux as a replacement for Paxman.<\/p>\n \u201cOutside of him, Louis Theroux did about six to nine months ago put his name in the hat,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n \u201cNo one\u2019s talking about him now but he did say that he would have wanted to be a potential host and now it\u2019s time.\u201d<\/p> Theroux, who is best known for fronting docuseries such as Louis Theroux\u2019s Weird Weekends, told The Times<\/a> back in February that it would be \u201cfun\u201d to present University Challenge, adding that he hopes to \u201cbe around more\u201d in the UK.<\/p>\n Seagull took part in University Challenge back in 2017, captaining the University of Cambridge\u2019s Emmanuel College team and reaching the semi-finals.<\/p>\n He has since hosted Monkman & Seagull\u2019s Genius Guide to Britain and appeared on E4\u2019s The Real Dirty Dancing.<\/p>\n Read more: Samira Ahmed \u2018hasn\u2019t been approached\u2019 for University Challenge job<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n For more to watch, check out our\u00a0TV Guide<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n The latest issue of Radio Times is on sale now \u2013\u00a0subscribe now<\/a>\u00a0to get each issue delivered to your door.
