The family of Nate Court \u2013 the young child who played newborn baby Robert<\/a> in the memorable Call the Midwife<\/a> season 10 finale \u2013 have sung the praises of Daniel Laurie after he was nominated for a TV Choice Award.<\/p>\n The episode saw Laurie\u2019s character Reggie take baby Robert, who also had Down\u2019s syndrome, for a pram ride around Poplar, and the official Call the Midwife Facebook page<\/a> has now shared a message from Court\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were thrilled to see Danny nominated for Best Actor at this year\u2019s TV Choice Awards, amongst other incredible stars,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThe Court household has been cheering for Daniel (Reggie) for weeks on Nate\u2019s Instagram, getting the link out to family and friends to vote!\u201d<\/p>\n Nate\u2019s mum Charlotte added that as a long-term fan of the show, Reggie had always been one of her favourite characters, explaining: \u201cHis presence on screen always made me proud, even before Nate was born.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cLittle did we know that our little boy would enter the world with an extra chromosome, and far beyond our wildest dreams did we ever think they\u2019d share an episode together.\u201d<\/p>\n And Matt, Nate\u2019s dad, commented: \u201cAside from being a great actor with some delicate storylines, Daniel is also flying the flag for diversity and inclusion, taking the bar to high levels, breaking boundaries & paving the way for so many families like our own.\u201d<\/p>\n He revealed that Laurie had gone out of his way last year to send both Nate and his older brother a gift for Christmas, and finished his statement by urging fans to \u201cspare two minutes to vote for Daniel\u201d.<\/p> Laurie had earlier explained that his nomination for Best Actor \u201cmakes me feel alive\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you to everyone for voting for me,\u201d he said when the news was announced. \u201cIt is an awesome honour.\u201d<\/p>\n Laurie is up against some stiff competition in the category, with the other nominees including Bridgerton\u2019s Jonathan Bailey, Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy and This is Going to Hurt\u2019s Ben Whishaw.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, his Call the Midwife co-star Jenny Agutter is up for Best Actress, while the show itself is one of the contenders in the Best Family Drama category.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Call the Midwife is available to stream on\u00a0BBC iPlayer<\/a>.
