Laura Whitmore has announced she is bowing out of her role as host of ITV\u2019s reality dating show Love Island<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The presenter<\/a> has fronted the popular programme, and its spin-off series Aftersun, since 2020 after the death of the show\u2019s former host Caroline Flack.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Whitmore<\/a> has become a staple on the show alongside her husband\u00a0Iain Stirling<\/a> who has provided the witty narration on the programme since it began in 2015.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n ITV recently announced there will be two season of the show in 2023<\/a> \u2013 a winter series in South Africa and a summer series in Mallorca \u2013 which Whitmore<\/a> was expected to front.<\/p>\n So, why has Whitmore made the big decision to quit as host of the popular show? Here\u2019s everything you need to know.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Whitmore took to Instagram<\/a> to explain her huge decision to quit being\u00a0Love Island<\/a>\u2018s host, blaming the show\u2019s format.<\/p>\n \u201cSome news! I won\u2019t be hosting the next season of Love island,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are certain elements of the show I\u2019ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish it was still possible but know you\u2019ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a season and it turned into three seasons. I hope I did you proud Caroline.\u201d<\/p>\n Love Island 2021 finalist Faye Winter<\/a> commented: \u201cShe really would be proud! You done incredibly.\u201d<\/p>\n Love Island 2022 contestant Tasha Ghouri<\/a> added: \u201cYou smashed it!!\u201d<\/p>\n Following Whitmore\u2019s announcement, an ITV spokesperson said: \u201cLaura has been a fantastic host across the last three seasons of the show.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects.\u201d<\/p>\n It is not yet known who will replace Whitmore in the role of Love Island host.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re looking for something to watch, check out our TV Guide<\/a>.
