Based on Nicholas Freeling\u2019s books<\/a>, ITV\u2019s reboot is proving just as popular as the original series, which ran for 32 episodes also on ITV.<\/p>\n Van der Valk season 3 has already been filmed in Amsterdam<\/a>, with executive producer Michele Buck saying: \u201cWe are happy to announce some good news for Van der Valk fans, series 3 has already been filmed on location in Amsterdam and will return to your screens next year.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear at this stage whether the new season will consist of three episodes, like seasons 1 and 2, or more. But we can expect Marc Warren to return as Piet Van der Valk \u2013 previously played by Barry Foster \u2013 with his team in tow, of course.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Lucienne Hassell star Maimie McCoy posted a script for Van der Valk season 3 on Instagram<\/a> and said that she was \u201cback keeping the streets safe\u201d, so the renewal isn\u2019t too much of a surprise.<\/p>\n Warren previously told RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press that he\u2019d play the character \u201cas long as people want it\u201d<\/a>, which means the ITV reboot could be on its way to reach its predecessor\u2019s heights.<\/p> Read more: <\/strong>Van der Valk star recalls tense filming moment: \u2018We\u2019re in trouble\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n Van der Valk seasons 1 and 2 are now available in full on\u00a0ITV Hub<\/a>.
