Hocus Pocus 2 director Anne Fletcher has confirmed that stars of the original film Omri Katz and Vinessa Shaw, who played Max and Allison respectively, will not appear in this year\u2019s sequel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fletcher told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> that they had originally tried to bring the characters back, saying: \u201cWe wanted to weave in all of the people that the fans loved, and when you sat back with all the ingredients and story, you\u2019re like, \u2018How do we make this work?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very difficult to try to have them be a part of it, because we did talk about it \u2014 painstakingly. You\u2019re trying to stay on track with the story, even if they came in as a cameo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fletcher explained why the team steered away from bringing the pair back in cameo roles, saying: \u201cPeople would say, \u2018They could be in the background!\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018Really? You\u2019re going to put the leads of the first movie in the background and be satisfied? You\u2019re not going to be satisfied, you\u2019re going to be angry.’\u201d<\/p>\n
