And it looks like one thing we can bank on in series 6 is a new face, with show boss Joe Henderson recently revealing that\u00a0 \u201ca whole new character\u201d would be joining for the final season.<\/p>\n
Speaking to TV Line<\/a>, Henderson also played down suggestions that the finale season would be \u201clike an elongated Act VI\u201d given that it was renewed at the last minute when it had previously looked like season five would mark the ending.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s its own season,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s got its own engine.\u201d<\/p>\n For your convenience, we\u2019ve compiled everything we know about Lucifer season six so far, from teased story arcs to new cast members, so read on for details.<\/p>\n Lucifer season six will premiere on 10th September, Netflix has officially confirmed.<\/p>\n The shoot came to an emotional end in March 2021, with co-stars Tom Ellis and DB Woodside sending heartfelt messages<\/a> via social media after performing their final scenes together.<\/p>\n \u201cLast scene with my brother @tomellis17\u2026 and I cannot stop crying,\u201d Woodside wrote in a tweet. \u201cThank you for everything, brother. Thank you for being such a force and such a friend\u2026you are the real deal. \u2764\ufe0f???? https:\/\/t.co\/DPvzUuwloe<\/a><\/p>\u2014 tom ellis (@tomellis17) March 12, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote> Lucifer season four was released in May 2019, roughly one year after season three concluded on FOX, but season five part one took longer to arrive due to delays caused by COVID-19, launching in August 2020.<\/p>\n For season five part two, Lucifer has returned to its original May slot, so it\u2019s possible that Netflix will hold season six until next year to space out the episodes evenly.<\/p>\n For this reason,\u00a0RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>predicts Lucifer season six will be available to stream on Netflix by May 2022<\/strong>, but the streamer could potentially drop the final episodes earlier given that filming has already been completed.<\/p> Most of the Lucifer cast<\/a> are expected to return for the final season, led by Tom Ellis and Lauren German as star-crossed lovers Lucifer and Chloe<\/a>.<\/p>\n As seen in the trailer, Lucifer is pulled over by the cop that initially stopped him in the series pilot. Executive producer Ildy Modrovich told fans at Comic-Con that they can expect more returning faces to come, and the return of a former guest star. Producer Joe Henderson added: \u201cWe found one character we have talked about but have never seen in this season.\u201d<\/p>\n We can also expect to see more from DB Woodside as the celestial Amenadiel and Rachael Harris as therapist Dr Linda Martin, with the duo still co-parenting their mortal son.<\/p>\n Aimee Garcia will also return as LAPD colleague Ella Lopez but it remains to be seen whether Kevin Alejandro will make an appearance as the hilariously awkward Detective Dan<\/a> Espinoza.<\/p>\n Of course, the character was tragically killed off in the second half of season five but, given that this show has visited the afterlife multiple times before, we\u2019re not ruling out a cameo \u2013 perhaps in the final episode.<\/p>\n Lesley Ann-Brandt and Inbar Lavi will be returning as Mazikeen and Eve respectively, whose romance was just getting off the ground towards the end of season five. Brandt recently teased to TV Line that there was a \u201cgiant journey\u201d for Eve and Maze in the upcoming season, with a new character being introduced who will \u201cthreaten their relationship in a really big way\u201d.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Scarlett Estevez will also most likely reprise her role as Trixie Espinoza, the young daughter of Chloe and Dan, who has been a recurring character since the series began.<\/p>\n We also expect to see more from Ginny & Georgia<\/a> star Scott Porter after his brief debut as Carol Corbett<\/a>, an old friend who Dan had been attempting to set up with Ella before his death.<\/p>\n Carol and Ella eventually meet at his funeral and seem to get along well, so it seems possible that the character could return to be the perfect match our favourite forensic scientist has long been searching for.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, show boss Joe Henderson has revealed that there will be at least one fresh face for the final series as well.<\/p>\n Asked about any new characters he said, \u201cOh, that\u2019s a good one\u2026.There is<\/em> a new character in six that was not going to be a part of season five. And he\u2019s got quite a few mysteries to solve in Season 6.\u201d<\/p>\n His celestial brothers and sisters \u2013 including the devious Michael \u2013 bowed down before him, suggesting they accept him in this major career change but it remains to be seen exactly how he will wield his new powers.<\/p>\n Expect season six to delve into some of the actions that Lucifer takes as he settles into his new job, as well as the impact that his new responsibilities have on his relationship with Chloe.<\/p>\n When Lucifer was confirmed to for a surprise season six renewal, some fans worried it would interfere with the plans that showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson originally had for the show but they have attempted to settle these fears.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we realised is that the last bit of that [series] finale episode was actually a lot of great stories sped up just to give us a satisfying ending for all our characters,\u201d Modrovich told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n She added: \u201cWe literally lobbed off Act 6 and went, \u2018Let\u2019s take what happens in Act 6 in a scene and dive into it, and really explore how our characters end up where they ended up.\u2019 So, that ended up being our nugget for season six.<\/p>\n \u201cIn addition to what we\u2019re opening up from that ending, we thought of one giant story that just needed to be told, so that\u2019s what really stuck the landing for us.\u201d<\/p>\n Lucifer co-star DB Woodside has also teased what the final season has in store for his character, the angel Amenadiel, who he hints will have a new romantic interest in the concluding chapters.<\/p>\n \u201cHe does find love, but he finds it in a very different way,\u201d said Woodside in an interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/a>. \u201cIn a way that I think is going to shock the fans, surprise them and then it\u2019s going to be unexpected.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I think it\u2019s going to make them very, very happy. It\u2019s the perfect ending for someone like Amenadiel. He has a lot of love to give and he will receive a lot of love.\u201d<\/p>\n Woodside will also step behind the camera for season six to try his hand at directing, confirming to TVLine<\/a> that his entry in the Lucifer saga is a bottle episode, i.e. taking place in a single location.<\/p>\n \u201cMy episode is unlike any episode that people have seen,\u201d he told the publication. \u201cIt takes place over one long night, and it\u2019s everyone kind of sitting around talking.<\/p>\n \u201cAll I can say is that it was a lot of fun and I feel privileged to have received that episode, because I think you\u2019re going to see some of the cast in ways that you haven\u2019t been able to see them before.\u201d<\/p>\n There is also an urge by the creators to address social issues in the real world. Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich told EW<\/a> that \u2018we\u2019re a cop show and in what ways have we contributed or not addressed the systemic issues of the police department\u2019 so it could be expected that the final season will look at real life matters such as police brutality, corruption and the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n Lucifer season 6 will launch on Netflix on September 10.
