It\u2019s very exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But is this story actually true? Well, it\u2019s hard to say. When contacted by <strong>RadioTimes.com<\/strong> the BBC neither confirmed nor denied the report, instead declining to comment.<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWe won\u2019t be commenting on any speculation around Jodie\u2019s future on the show,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/div>\n<div \/>\n<div>Until we get some sort of official confirmation, we\u2019ll keep this one in the \u201cmaybe\u201d column \u2013 though at the moment it seems fairly likely.\u00a0If true, we can imagine season 13 spending a good deal of time dealing with Whittaker\u2019s exit and the preamble to it, offering some clues about the storylines we may expect.<\/div>\n<div \/>\n<div>Whittaker herself has not revealed anything that would suggest there is any truth to the reports at this stage, and indeed in an interview last year she said that she didn\u2019t want to think about anything beyond Doctor Who just yet.<\/div>\n<div \/>\n<div>Speaking to <a href=\"\/\/ew.com\/tv\/doctor-who-jodie-whittaker-filming-holiday-special\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener noopener noreferrer\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a> prior to the festive special in December, she said, \u201cAs far as I\u2019m concerned, right now, I\u2019m the Doctor and that\u2019s taking up everything of me, as an actor,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd to think something beyond that, I can\u2019t put my head there, and I don\u2019t want to.\u201d<\/div>\n<div \/>\n<div>As for who could replace her, well, the preferred choice for a while was Olly Alexander, though the It\u2019s a Sin star later denied the reports. I don\u2019t want to tease the fans,\u201d he told TV Choice Magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it\u2019s possible Barrowman (who managed to keep Jack\u2019s involvement a secret for many months) is pulling our leg again and, even if he isn\u2019t, it may not be long before Captain Jack is back anyway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean if they ever ask Jack back <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/john-barrowman-wants-doctor-who-return\/&quot;\">I\u2019ll come back at the drop of a hat,\u201d Barrowman previously told <strong>RadioTimes.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, any possibility of a Barrowman return has been made less likely by recent controversy, following accusations that the actor had frequently exposed himself on the sets of Torchwood and Doctor Who in the past.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations came to light after a 2014 video featuring his <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/doctor-who-season-13-release-date\/&quot;\">Doctor Who<\/a>\u00a0co-star Noel Clarke resurfaced. In fact, they\u2019re probably formulating their plans as we speak\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More recently, Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill confirmed some \u201cold\u201d monsters would be back, leading to speculation about which baddies they could be referring to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited for our amazing Whovians to see some incredible interactions with old monsters,\u201d Whittaker said during a virtual Comic-Con@Home panel<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause that part is so good!\u201d added co-star Mandip Gill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so special to work with new monsters that we\u2019re the first people to interact with. And old monsters\u2026there\u2019s one in particular, I\u2019m so excited!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We may already have a few clues about who to expect. Leaked filming photos appear to show the clone-warrior Sontarans (last seen regularly during the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who) sporting a new look for one episode, while another photo apparently showed a deadly Weeping Angel advancing on some victims.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, neither of these monster appearances have been officially confirmed by the BBC, and it\u2019s certainly possible the Weeping Angels were being filmed for a different project \u2013 but, if true, we certainly sound like we\u2019re in for some seriously spooky episodes.<\/p>\n<p>And after a little cameo for a Weeping Angel in New Year\u2019s special Revolution of the Daleks, we\u2019d say chances aren\u2019t looking too remote for their grand return.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the Daleks, it looks like the iconic baddies will be back once again after taking centre stage in the 2020 festive special, at least based on some leaked photos from the set.<\/p>\n<p>Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and John Bishop were all spotted filming in Bristol in early June \u2013 as was long-term voice of the Daleks Nicholas Briggs and Dalek operators Nicholas Pegg and Barnaby Edwards. And so he wanted it to be based in Liverpool and that\u2019s where the Doctor is going to get the new companion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It also appears we\u2019ll meet Dan\u2019s parents in his first episode, played by actors Sue Murphy and Paul Broughton.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did one thing with two Liverpool actors, Paul Broughton and Sue Murphy,\u201d Bishop said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were playing my mum and dad and I swear to God, it was like a masterclass because the was a little bit where there\u2019s these aliens that have come down. They took over the world.
