Though originally designed to be lived in for just 10 years, the factory-built home has lasted well past its sell-by date.<\/p>\n
When McCloud meets them, Kate and Rob are looking to replace their home with a bespoke, modern version, also prefabricated. Just like the home Rob\u2019s grandfather built, the couple\u2019s new home will be designed and put together in a factory.<\/p>\n
However, some interesting new techniques will be used. Thanks to volumetric modular construction, their home will take just six weeks to build \u2013 that\u2019s the plan, anyway.<\/p>\n
In the clip below, McCloud visits the factory in Darby where their home will be built, and seems very excited about the atmosphere and the \u201cperfectly accurate\u201d engineering of the homes.<\/p>
