Many names have been floated to take over as the new James Bond, but the one that comes up the most is undoubtedly Idris Elba\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The Luther<\/a> actor has long been a fan favourite<\/a> to play the suave spy but, as it turns out, he\u2019s \u201cnot that guy\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking during LeBron James and Maverick Carter\u2019s The Shop: Uninterrupted<\/a>\u00a0series, Elba opened up about whether 007 is a role he would like to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not a goal for my career,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t think that, you know, playing Bond will satisfy some of my personal goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, he did acknowledge it would \u201cdefinitely satisfy the will of a nation\u201d.<\/p>

He added: \u201cI feel it is beyond me at this junction. It\u2019s beyond me. You know, it\u2019s not a question of, \u2018Should I?,\u2019 \u2018Do I?,\u2019 \u2018Will I?,\u2019 it is what the will of the nation dictates sometimes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not that guy, but in everyone\u2019s world I might be. And that \u2013 job done. Because the truth is, you know, a lot of people are really seeing Idris playing Bond as the \u2018alternative Bond\u2019. And as long as that alternative is existing, that\u2019s great for the growth of f**king casting.\u201d<\/p>\n
