Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96, after a reign of 70 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her Majesty was Britain\u2019s longest-reigning monarch, ascending to the throne following the death of her father, King George VI, on 6th February 1952.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Royal Family issued a statement today (Thursday 8th September), which read: \u201cThe Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
