Ahead of season 2\u2019s opening episode, potential pointers about Pearly King\u2019s identity are pretty scarce, and all we have to go on is the outfit. Does the traditional get-up mean this dancer is a London legend? And could the lion reference be a link to a high profile sporting career?<\/span><\/p>\n
What we do know is that Pearly King has already made a huge impression on the judges \u2014 and especially on presenter Joel Dommett<\/a>, who says they\u2019ve struck up a bizarre bond.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes I don\u2019t really know whether it\u2019s sort of a father and son relationship or whether it\u2019s a sort of flirting relationship,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m not really sure what is going on, but it\u2019s very dynamic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>
Dommett also said that Pearly King is his \u201cabsolute favourite\u201d because they \u201cembrace the whole character\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s amazing and what makes this show wonderful is that it\u2019s not really in any way a talent. You can be an amazing singer or dancer, but Pearly King isn\u2019t the best dancer<\/span> by country mile but he\u2019s embracing it and courts the audience, he\u2019s really enjoying it and I think that can get you really far.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cThe more you enjoy it, the more people enjoy watching you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
A backhanded compliment, but a compliment nonetheless <\/span>\u2014 and is that \u201che\u201d another (albeit very vague) clue?<\/span><\/p>\n
Judge Oti Mabuse<\/a> also described Pearly King as \u201can absolute character, a big personality. It\u2019s not about how they dance but how they interact with Joel and how Joel reacts to them.\u201d Intriguing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
When does The Masked Dancer start?<\/b><\/h2>\nMore clues about Pearly King\u2019s identity will be unveiled on Saturday 10th September, when the next episode of The Masked Dancer airs on ITV at 6:50pm, and judges Mabuse<\/a>, newbie Peter Crouch<\/a>, Jonathan Ross<\/a> and Davina McCall<\/a> will do their best to find out who\u2019s hiding behind the mask.<\/span><\/p>\n
This is a slightly later start, as ITV confirmed their Saturday schedule following the Queen\u2019s passing<\/a>.<\/p>\n
