For the spin-off\u2019s second season, Peter Crouch<\/a> will be taking over Mo Gilligan<\/a>\u2019s spot on the judging panel, joining Oti Mabuse<\/a>, Davina McCall<\/a> and Jonathan Ross<\/a> as they attempt to work out which celebrities are hiding behind the intricately crafted outfits.<\/span><\/p>\n This time around, host Joel Dommett<\/a> has promised that \u201cthe names are bigger than better and ever\u201d and admitted that the show has \u201cgone full ham for weirdness\u201d. So, j<\/span>ust when you thought that The Masked Dancer couldn\u2019t get any weirder, it goes and ups the strangeness stakes.<\/span><\/p>\n Want proof? One of this season\u2019s contestants is named Onomatopoeia, inspired by words which sound like the thing they are describing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Confused? Us too, but that\u2019s all part of the joy of the show. Here\u2019s everything we know about Onomatopoeia so far.<\/span><\/p>\n ITV has promised that Onomatopoeia will be \u201cdancing to their own tune\u201d when the competition kicks off, and Dommett has praised their fancy footwork.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOnomatopoeia is another great costume and this person is a great dancer,\u201d he said. \u00a0\u201cThey can really move, so I\u2019m excited to see who is hiding behind the mask because I have absolutely no idea.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Their get-up is certainly eye-catching. Onomatopoeia\u2019s brightly coloured, comic book-inspired outfit is covered in words like \u201cpow\u201d and \u201cbam\u201d, with their face covered by an explosive \u201cboom\u201d headpiece.<\/span><\/p>\n But does it offer us any clues about the contestant\u2019s identity? A high-concept disguise like this one is always hard to unpick, but surely whoever\u2019s hiding behind the mask, they\u2019re almost certainly a lover of words (and they\u2019re probably pretty good at spelling\u2026)<\/span><\/p> Crouch admitted that his sneaky attempts to get a better look at the dancer were foiled. \u201cDuring their performance, Onomatopoeia was next to me when they started their routine and I was trying to see through the costume, which you can\u2019t,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re trying to get clues all the time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The Masked Dancer returned to ITV on Saturday 3rd September at 6:30pm, when returning judge Mabuse promised that this season\u2019s unmaskings will be more shocking than ever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere was literally one where I didn\u2019t speak because I was so gobsmacked,\u201d she said. \u201cI just couldn\u2019t fathom how they were literally on the show dancing!\u201d Bring it on.<\/span><\/p>\n The second episode will air on ITV on Saturday 10th September at 6:50pm.<\/p>\n The Masked Dancer is airing on ITV this autumn.
