The couple got engaged at the end of season 2 with many thinking there might be a festive wedding on the cards<\/a> in last year\u2019s Christmas special \u2013 however, there were no nuptials in sight.<\/p>\n Instead, the wedding will take place in the first episode of season 3 later this week, and James Herriot star Nicholas Ralph has given us a sense of what we can expect in the \u201cabsolutely brilliant\u201d instalment of the show.<\/p>\n Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press, Ralph said: \u201cSo I can\u2019t say too much but when I read the script I was smiling like a Cheshire cat from start to finish. It\u2019s absolutely brilliant. Not only is it everything that you would hope it would be \u2013 romantic and touching in points as well \u2013 but it\u2019s also very funny. It\u2019s a reall<\/span>y funny, funny script as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Ralph said that he was \u201cjust smiling all<\/span> through reading it\u201d and admitted the cast were \u201cstraight on the phone\u201d, saying \u201c\u2018Have you read it yet? Have you seen this bit? Have you seen that bit?’\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the cast also spoke about what married life will be like for James and Helen in season 3, with Ralph saying that James \u201cdoesn\u2019t think there\u2019s anything better than him being in that little area within the house, just the two of them\u201d.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cWe\u2019ve got the bedsitter at the top of the house. So when we first move in, it\u2019s quite dilapidated, but then they slowly start making it their own, and every time we revisit it we see a little bits done up.\u201d<\/p>\n Rachel Shenton, who plays Helen in the series, added:\u00a0\u201cThere are real heartfelt moments that happen between James and Helen that only happen when they\u2019re in the bedsitter on their own, and as the season progresses there are some things that are reall<\/span>y tough for them to discuss and make them both feel reall<\/span>y vulnerable.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing able to do that in their own environment in the bedsitter sort of peeled off another layer, I think.\u201d<\/p> However, Shenton added that it won\u2019t necessarily be entirely smooth sailing as marriage could test Helen slightly.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cI think the transition into married life and into Skeldale is a tricky one for her. She loves Heston Grange, that\u2019s very much her identity. She\u2019s a farmer\u2019s daughter, she\u2019s a worker ultimately.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd of course, she moves into a house where Mrs Hall<\/span> does everything. And so I think there\u2019s a real sense of \u2018OK, well where do I fit into this then, what\u2019s the next step? How do I balance my life between my working life at Heston Grange?’\u201d<\/p>\n All Creatures Great and Small returns for season 3 at 9pm on Thursday 15th September on Channel 5 and My5.
