Then, we\u2019re going for some different tonal things than we\u2019re used to on the show, which hopefully will be fun for the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Producer Scott Gimple has also been teasing the tone of the final season, warning fans that the show will get \u201cvery, very, very, very dark\u201d in the concluding episodes (via <a href=\"\/\/www.twitch.tv\/twduniverse&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">TWDUniverse<\/a>), which suggests tough times ahead for our weary band of survivors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s some really brutal stuff in it, and yet it directly affects some of our most beloved characters and ties into their histories in ways that we\u2019ll see,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Read on for more information on The Walking Dead season 11\u2019s release date, storylines and rumoured spin-offs.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Walking Dead season 11 release date<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Walking Dead season 11 will premiere in the United States on <strong>22nd August 2021 <\/strong>on AMC, before arriving in the UK the following day exclusively via Star on Disney Plus.<\/p>\n<p>New episodes will arrive weekly on the streaming service instead of FOX UK, where the show has historically aired.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"&quot;twitter-tweet&quot;\" data-dnt=\"&quot;true&quot;\"><p lang=\"&quot;en&quot;\" dir=\"&quot;ltr&quot;\">Every moment has led to this. He\u2019s been getting his COVID test so he can be on set and all that. It came from nowhere and there was such a huge pivot. Their situation is dire as tensions heat up over past events and self-preservation rises to the surface within the ravaged walls.<\/p>\n<p>The synopsis continues: \u201cThey must secure more food while they attempt to restore Alexandria before it collapses like countless other communities they have come across throughout the years. Like, how to make things still feel really scary and really cool and really emotional, while being a little more cognisant of, like, how many people are in a scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;body-text&quot;\">\u201cLike, are there ways to do this where people are not constantly in each other\u2019s faces? Hopefully, when the audience watches it, they won\u2019t really feel the things we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added that they\u2019ll be diving \u201creally deeply into these really cool character stories\u201d in the upcoming episodes, but wouldn\u2019t give away any clues to which characters they might be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got definitely a story that a lot of comic book fans have been waiting for for a very long time, and I love this script. So, you know, we\u2019ll get to tease things in a different way. There are limitations but I think it\u2019s also been a really cool creative challenge at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When season 11 does come around, we\u2019re bound to see some friction between Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who returned to the show for the season 10 finale, and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who killed her husband Glenn back in season seven.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"\/\/ew.com\/tv\/walking-dead-lauren-cohan-maggie-negan-reunion\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener noopener noreferrer\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, Cohan revealed: \u201cI haven\u2019t been privy to these saving graces of Negan\u2019s or his great relationship with kids or his affinity for animals. I don\u2019t know any of this. And even if I did\u2026 So, it\u2019s going to be a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cIt\u2019s definitely going to be a lot when she comes back. I\u2019m so jonesing to get into it. It\u2019s really, it\u2019s fricking great. And I couldn\u2019t be doing it with anybody more fun than Jeffrey [Dean Morgan]. It\u2019s just, we\u2019re really amped.
