The Power of the Doctor will close the curtain on Chris Chibnall\u2019s era of the long-running sci-fi show, with an epic adventure featuring three of the Time Lord\u2019s most formidable foes: the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Master (Sacha Dhawan).<\/p>\n
Treasured friends will also return for the Doctor Who<\/a> special, including Janet Fielding\u2019s Tegan and Sophie Aldred\u2019s Ace, which is due to air on BBC One at some point next month<\/a>.<\/p> Previously, Chibnall said of his Who swansong: \u201cJodie\u2019s final feature-length story contains a plethora of treats and surprises for audiences and fans, not least the return of two of the most beloved companions in the show\u2019s history.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ll be helping the Doctor fight on three fronts, against her deadliest enemies: the Master, Daleks and Cybermen, in one huge story!\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cFor the BBC\u2019s centenary, we\u2019ll be celebrating the past, present and future of Doctor Who, in a fittingly thrilling, epic and emotional send-off for the Thirteenth Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n The episode is expected to end with the Thirteenth Doctor\u2019s regeneration, with Sex Education<\/a> star Ncuti Gatwa preparing to take over<\/a> the TARDIS alongside returning showrunner Russell T Davies.<\/p>\n Though much attention has been paid to what Davies has in store \u2013\u00a0including a shock reunion for David Tennant and Catherine Tate<\/a> in next year\u2019s 60th anniversary celebrations\u2013 the It\u2019s A Sin writer himself has repeatedly voiced excitement for Chibnall\u2019s grand finale<\/a>.<\/p>\n The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine is on sale now.<\/strong><\/p>\n Doctor Who<\/a> is available to stream on BBC iPlayer<\/a> with episodes of the classic series also available on BritBox \u2013 you can sign up for a 7-day free trial here<\/a>.
