Dee Dee Bailey will be getting involved in Stu’s attempt to prove his innocence. <\/p>

Channique Sterling-Brown is about to be introduced to Coronation Street<\/a> viewers as she takes on the role of Dee Dee Bailey.<\/p>\n

Since her family arrived on the cobbles in 2019, we have been wondering about Dee Dee \u2013 the daughter of Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Aggie Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw), and sister of James (Nathan Graham) and Michael (Ryan Russell).<\/p>\n

Now, the character is set to fly in from America and join her loved ones at last. Corrie\u2019s Executive Producer, Iain MacLeod, recently gave us the first teasers on what to expect from Dee Dee<\/a> \u2013 but now we can hear about her from the actress herself.<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other media, Sterling-Brown reveals that Dee Dee will play a crucial role in Stu Carpenter\u2019s (Bill Fellows) life, as she works with the Nazirs to help prove Stu\u2019s innocence. Stu has maintained that his conviction for the murder of a young woman was wrong, and he did not kill her.<\/p>\n

As the star says, there is a lot more to come from this story.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Dee Dee] has made a friend in Alya (Sair Khan), which has been really great. They\u2019re delving into Stu\u2019s case, looking to see if they can get him exonerated,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n

And Sterling-Brown is full of praise for her character\u2019s involvement in this complex plot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s going to be really exciting for viewers, because obviously it\u2019s such a big storyline, and it\u2019s very gripping,\u201d she adds. \u201cTwo young women on their detective case \u2013 I think it\u2019s really brilliant, and it\u2019s exciting to see where that\u2019ll go.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress also offers her insight into what her alter ego is like, before adding that she finds Dee Dee incredibly relatable to her own life.<\/p>

\u201cShe\u2019s a bit of me! Dee Dee\u2019s going to bring a lot of fun, a lot of chaos \u2013 but in a good way, hopefully! Dee Dee is organised chaos, is how I describe her. She bursts into any room she\u2019s in, she\u2019s a big personality but she\u2019s really hard-working. She\u2019s a great lawyer, she knows what she\u2019s doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I just think I relate to her because I think I\u2019m quite similar in that I\u2019m really friendly, I\u2019m really chatty, but when I\u2019m in the zone, when I\u2019m working hard: I\u2019m there!\u201d<\/p>\n

Sterling-Brown continues:\u00a0\u201cAlso, even the fact she\u2019s a lawyer \u2013 I was originally not going to do drama school, and I was going to train in law and I got a place at a law school. And last minute I pulled out and decided to pursue drama school. And literally, here I am on the biggest soap in the country, playing this amazing solicitor.\u201d<\/p>\n
