If the mysterious teaser trailers for Outer Banks season two weren\u2019t already intriguing enough, some new quotes from the show\u2019s stars have seen fans\u2019 excitement levels rise even further.<\/p>\n
John B actor Chase Stokes has told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> that the second run is set to be \u201cquite the roller coaster\u201d while his co-star Madelyn Cline teased some major challenges for the show\u2019s leading characters.<\/p>\n \u201cThe big question is are they going to live this almost like\u00a0Blue Lagoon-type situation, or is the trouble going to find them faster than they know it,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd it is the latter. We see everything catch up to them, tenfold. It\u2019s much more intense than anybody realises it would be.\u201d<\/p>\n Cline had previously teased that there has been a \u201cmicro time jump\u201d while showrunner Josh Pate confirmed a shift in location to the Bahamas, so there will definitely be one or two tweaks when compared to the successful first season.<\/p>\n The series follows the group of teenagers living on the coastal barrier of North Carolina as they search for their ringleader John B\u2019s missing father and soon get involved in intense boat sailing, treasure hunting and even a bit of crime-solving.<\/p>\n Those behind the teen drama will be hoping that its new season can reach the same heights as its hugely successful first run, which became one of the service\u2019s most-watched shows of 2020, and if early trailers are anything to go by it seems that the Kooks and the Pogues will be getting up to lots more sun-soaked antics.<\/p>\n No more uncharted waters \u2013 here\u2019s everything you need to know about Outer Banks season two.<\/p>\n Despite filming only finishing in April, Outer Banks will still return just in time for some late-summer waves \u2013 the teen drama will splash back onto our screens on Friday 30th July 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n A second season was announced by Netflix a mere three months after the 10-episode first season was released.\u00a0The show was Netflix\u2019s third most popular show in 2020, only ranking behind Tiger King<\/a> and Ozark<\/a>.<\/p>\n Outer Banks Season 2 is coming this summer! Netflix released a first-look trailer as part of Geeked Week, which shows the gang mourning John B. and Sarah who they believe to be dead \u2013 before teasing plenty of sun-soaked action:<\/p>\n\n Then, on 14th July, the streamer released a second trailer, hinting at how the first season\u2019s cliffhanger will resolve itself.<\/p>\n\n The main Outer Banks cast are set to return for season two; Chase Stokes (John B), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kie), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe), Deion Smith (Kelce), and Charles Esten (Ward Cameron) are all down to return. We\u2019re glad to see our favourite Pogues reunited.<\/p>\n Luckily Outer Banks is big enough to deal with all the new personalities joining the cast too. Carlacia Grant (Roots, Greenleaf) has been cast as Cleo. Her bio says: \u201cConfident and fearless, Cleo is a Nassau girl, a formidable artful dodger, whose world collides with the Pogues.\u201d We don\u2019t know much more about her yet, or whether she\u2019s a Pogue or Kook.<\/p>\n A post shared by Outer Banks (@obx)<\/a><\/p><\/div><\/blockquote> Joining her is Lost and Once Upon a Time star Elizabeth Mitchell as Limbrey (via Deadline<\/a>). Limbrey is \u201ca long-time Charleston native\u201d, she is \u201ca compelling woman with a level of toxicity and menace underneath her seemingly courteous ways\u201d. We\u2019re calling it, she\u2019s a villain.<\/p>\n \u201cSo excited to join this show! Gorgeous, talented cast. Incredible crew. Filming in paradise and a character I can\u2019t wait for you to meet,\u201d Mitchell wrote on her Instagram.<\/p>\n Of course we knew there would be changes in the OBX, but we think it\u2019s fair to say a time jump wasn\u2019t quite what we had in mind. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight,<\/a> Madelyn Cline revealed there will be a \u201cmicro time jump\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201c[There\u2019s] the kind of shock where you turn the page\u2026 and you read that moment and you [gasp] and then your mind starts going a thousand miles a minute. You\u2019re like, \u2018Oh my gosh, this is going to be so fun to shoot\u2026 This is gonna be fun and it\u2019s gonna be shocking to watch as well\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite the time jump there are a few things that we expect to be addressed. John B. and Sarah were heading off to the Bahamas last time we saw them to try and get the gold back after Ward stole the loot and tried to frame John B for murder. The pair fled, but their boat capsized in a storm, only to be rescued by another boat.<\/p>\n The official OBX account posted a teaser<\/a> captioned: \u201cSee you in the Bahamas\u201d and Cline posted a picture of herself in the Bahamas too.<\/p>\n A post shared by Maddie (@madelyncline)<\/a><\/p><\/div><\/blockquote> Showrunner Jonas Pate confirmed the change in location for season two.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ll definitely have at least a part of season two that\u2019ll take place in the Bahamas, but it\u2019ll all come back to the Outer Banks because that\u2019s our spiritual home,\u201d he told EW<\/a>. \u201cSo we\u2019ll get back to the Outer Banks pretty quickly, I\u2019m sure, but there\u2019ll be definitely an episode or two that that has some Bahamas in it.\u201d<\/p>\n So Sarah and John B. are now in the Bahamas. Cline, speaking to Elle<\/a>, said she\u2019d like to see her Sarah become a stronger force in the relationship.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see where the story goes when John B and Sarah get to the Bahamas. My wish is that we continue to see Sarah come into her own and grow into this badass,\u201d she explained. \u201cI want her to match John B\u2019s crazy\u2014like a Bonnie and Clyde-type dynamic between them. That sounds like a lot of fun to play as an actor. As far as Sarah goes, I want to see her grow into her own person, and not be under the influence or control of her dad.\u201d<\/p> Kie, Pope and JJ will also be dealing with the SBI escape and the \u2018deaths\u2019.<\/p>\n Bailey, who plays Kie, told Seventeen<\/a>: \u201cThere\u2019s gonna be a whole new dynamic. How do you go about life without your best friend? I think it\u2019s going to be rough on everyone.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd we\u2019re going to have to come together and take care of each other now more than ever. But revenge is going to be on all of our minds.\u201d<\/p>\n Jonathan Daviss, who plays Pope, has said he\u2019s keen to see how the relationships shift.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m interested to see if we do move forward, potentially with the second season, where the Pogues relationship is going to be without John B,\u201d he told\u00a0Seventeen<\/a>. \u201cAre they going to stick together as a family? Are they going to separate because of it? Is that relationship going to stick or are they going to be afraid? It\u2019s something interesting to explore.\u201d<\/p>\n We left Ward dealing with the fallout from his actions as the SBI, and the police found out he was the one behind John B.\u2019s dad\u2019s death.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Chase Stokes recently told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> that season two is \u201cdefinitely going to test\u201d all the Pogues relationships.<\/p>\n \u201cIt will be interesting to see how are John B and Sarah going to move and groove in the Bahamas, taking in the fact that he\u2019s wildly in love with this girl but he\u2019s just recently kindled a relationship with her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cPlus there\u2019s all of the things that she\u2019s lost along the way to support John B and the things that she\u2019s learned about her family that she\u2019s been unaware of for her entire lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n And speaking about Sarah\u2019s storyline, Cline added: \u201cIt\u2019s the battle between security and the safety net and knowing that if she does choose her family, she\u2019s going to be taken care of, but morally that just doesn\u2019t sit right with her,\u201d she says. \u201cWe see her really battle with that decision.\u201d<\/p>\n She also teased highs and lows for John B and Sarah\u2019s relationship throughout the season, saying: \u201cIt\u2019s this larger than life story and this larger than life love story \u2014 they\u2019re like these star-crossed lovers where everything seems perfect and everything is golden. And I didn\u2019t want it to stay that way. I wanted there to be some conflict. Reality kind of slaps them in the face. They\u2019re hit with the reality of the fact that they\u2019ve been caught up in this whirlwind romance, and is it real? Is it going to last?\u201d<\/p>\n Creator and showrunner Jonas Pate has revealed his plans for Outer Banks beyond season two. \u201cEver since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but definitely four seasons,\u201d Pate told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ve sort of long-arced it out pretty far.
