It was announced in July this year that hit regency drama Bridgerton<\/a>\u2018s first spin-off would focus on Golda Rosheuvel\u2019s Queen Charlotte, and Netflix<\/a> has now released our first look at the brand-new series.<\/p>\n

The clip was released as part of Netflix\u2019s global fan event TUDUM, and shows a young Charlotte trying to climb over the garden wall in order to escape from marrying the king, who she assumes is \u201ca beast or a troll\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the clip, Charlotte is approached by a young man who she asks to help her escape \u2013 however, he refuses, as it turns out he is in fact the king himself.<\/p>\n

You can see the first-look clip right here now.<\/p>\n\nWe already know that the release of the series, titled <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/bridgerton-queen-charlotte-spin-off-release-date\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story<\/a>, will coincide with the release of a <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/bridgerton-queen-charlotte-prequel-novel-newsupdate\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">brand-new book<\/a> from the Bridgerton series\u2019 author Julia Quinn.<\/p>\nQueen Charlotte was not in those original books, but Quinn said in a statement that she was \u201cespecially thrilled to have the opportunity to write about Queen Charlotte\u201d and added that \u201cher character \u2013 and Golda Rosheuvel\u2019s brilliant portrayal of her \u2013 was a tour de force, and I think readers will love getting a chance to know her more deeply\u201d.<\/p>\nThe series is set to chart two timelines, telling the Queen\u2019s origin story. Therefore, while Rosheuvel will be back in the role, Charlotte will also be played by India Amarteifio as a young woman, who is seen in the clip.<\/p>\n<div class=\""image-handler__container\"
