Barker had previously spoken about being \u201csacked\u201d from the role<\/a>, revealing last month that she was \u201cgobsmacked\u201d over how the BBC dealt with the situation, leaving her \u201cslightly damaged\u201d by the experience.<\/p>\n In a new interview with the Evening Standard<\/a>, Barker said that she was disappointed by the BBC asking her to say that she was \u201cwalking away\u201d from the show.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is such a shame because, I have to say, that the BBC had told us we were going,\u201d she said. \u201cThey wanted to refresh the programme and that is absolutely fine. Everyone has the right to do that. We don\u2019t own the programme.<\/p>\n \u201cI had had 24 amazing years working with the most incredible people. So we knew it was going to happen and it was just the way in which it happened and the way it was handled, and the way the BBC sort of wanted me to say that I was walking away from it.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that she would \u201cnever walk away from a job [she] love[s]\u201d and that while she didn\u2019t mind being replaced, \u201cit was just the way it was handled\u201d.<\/p> \u201cI think we regret the way it was handled,\u201d she continued. \u201cI think if we look back on it we could have handled it better. I think the BBC could have handled it better.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is just such a shame because I loved it.
