Steven Moffat\u2019s return to the BBC, Inside Man<\/a>, proved to be a twisty and dark tale as David Tennant\u2019s Harry Watling found himself drawn towards committing murder after making a series of extremely bad decisions.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Stanley Tucci\u2019s Jefferson Grieff, a murderer on Death Row, found himself taking on the case of a missing woman, with the two stories becoming further entwined as the series progressed.<\/p>\n

The series also starred Dolly Wells and Lydia West and was brought to a natural close in the fourth and final episode as questions were answered and fates sealed.<\/p>\n

However, with a couple of questions still hanging and a mid-credits scene suggesting there could be more story to tell, will there be another season of Inside Man? Read on for everything you need to know.<\/p>\n

Will there be an Inside Man season 2?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At this point, a second season hasn\u2019t been confirmed \u2013 and it seems that creator Steven Moffat is keeping his options open.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview<\/a> with RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Moffat said: \u201cThe story will end in four episodes. It\u2019s done by the end of that. As to whether or not you could ever spin off anything or do any kind of sequel? I don\u2019t know at this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moffat added that it will depend on the audience response to the first season, as well as whether he had a clear idea of where the story would go in a second run of episodes.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cTelevision is littered with shows that had one season and pretended they could carry on \u2013 I would never want to be one of those, where you\u2019re so excited to get a phone call about doing another run that you do it and then realise, actually, the story is finished.\u201d<\/p>\n

So for now, it seems we\u2019ll just have to wait and see. A mid-credits sting certainly sets up a sense of where the story could go, but whether we will ever get a follow-up on that is currently unclear.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

When would Inside Man season 2 be released?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Without confirmation that a second season is actually happening, it\u2019s hard to say when it would debut on BBC One. We\u2019d imagine the absolute earliest it could be turned around for would be in a year\u2019s time, so autumn 2023.<\/p>\n

However, one of Moffat\u2019s previous series, Sherlock<\/a>, used to take two years for a new season to be released. We could therefore be looking at a similar timeline here. We\u2019ll keep this page updated as and when we have any more concrete information.<\/p>\n

What would Inside Man season 2 be about?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s hard to say exactly what Inside Man season 2 would be about at this point, but if it were to follow on from the mid-credits sting at the end of the season 1 finale, then it would certainly be taking a very different turn.<\/p>\n

In the scene, Grieff was visited by Janice who asked him for help in murdering her husband, who she said \u201cshould be\u201d dead.<\/p>\n

Grieff seemed willing to engage with the proposal, which would appear strange given his previous lack of interest in cases which didn\u2019t provide \u201cmoral worth\u201d. Maybe he truly does believe that her husband deserves to die?<\/p>\n

Regardless, season 2 could see this premise followed up on, with Grieff aiding Janice in her attempt to murder her husband. Exactly how that would play out remains to be seen, but a different case for Grieff to crack, not involving David Tennant\u2019s Harry Watling, would certainly seem like the direction the show would go in.<\/p>\n

Inside Man cast \u2013 who would be back for season 2?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If Inside Man did return, the one character<\/a> we\u2019d certainly expect to be back would be Stanley Tucci\u2019s Jefferson Grieff. The ending set up a potential new case for him, and as a connective through-line, his character would make the most sense.<\/p>\n

If season 2 did follow up on season 1\u2019s mid-credits scene, then we\u2019d expect Dolly Wells\u2019s Janice to be back too, as well as Atkins Estimond as Dillon Kempton, Dylan Baker as Casey and potentially Kate Dickie as Grieff\u2019s associate Morag.<\/p>\n

However, whether David Tennant\u2019s Harry Watling returns is more up in the air.<\/p>\n

His story is seemingly done, with his character now in prison for Janice\u2019s attempted murder. Grieff teased that Harry could be the one he finally opens up to about why he killed his wife, meaning we could see more video calls between the two \u2013 but we\u2019d certainly expect a smaller role for him going forward.<\/p>\n

If he was to return, we could also see more of Louis Oliver as his son Ben, while it\u2019s unlikely we\u2019d see any more of Lyndsey Marshall\u2019s Mary after her character met a tragic end.<\/p>\n

Lydia West\u2019s Beth Davenport is another uncertain one. She could well be back for more interactions with Grieff, but for now their connection would seem to be done.<\/p>\n

All that in mind, we\u2019d expect the following cast members could<\/em> be back if an Inside Man season 2 were to happen:<\/p>\n
