You\u2019ve probably already heard that Overwatch 2<\/a> had some server problems at launch, with players struggling to get into the new game.<\/p>\n Server outages, of course, are par for the course with big new online games. And with Overwatch 1 already shut down<\/a>, the fandom was left without anything to do besides waiting in a very big queue on Overwatch 2 launch day.<\/p>\n So, what\u2019s the Overwatch 2 server status right now, and how can you check it in future if you\u2019re ever unsure? Keep on reading to find out!<\/p>\n As far as we can tell,\u00a0Overwatch 2 is not down\u00a0<\/strong>at the time of writing. The game is online, but you might find yourself waiting for a long time to get into a match.<\/p>\n Overwatch 2 developers including Aaron Keller have taken to Twitter<\/a>, stating that a DDoS attack (a type of cyber attack that sends a lot of fake traffic to an online service to clog up its servers) is part of the problem here.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re steadily making progress on server issues and stability,\u201d Keller said on the morning of 5th October, \u201cas well as working through a second DDoS attack. We\u2019re all hands on deck and will continue to work throughout the night. Thank you for your patience \u2013 we\u2019ll share more info as it becomes available.\u201d<\/p> If you\u2019re ever wondering about the Overwatch 2 server status, the best place to look is Down Detector<\/a>, a community-generated information source where you\u2019ll be able to see if other players are experiencing the same issues as you.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re looking for official intel from the developers, Twitter seems to be their platform of choice: follow the accounts of Aaron Keller<\/a> and Mike Ybarra<\/a>, and you should see any major updates about the servers on there.<\/p>\n The official PlayOverwatch Twitter account<\/a>\u00a0is also there for your perusal, but seems to focus more on marketing than server updates, and the same could be said about the news section of the Overwatch website<\/a>.<\/p>\n Stick to the developers\u2019 Twitter accounts and Down Detector, though, and you should be able to assess the situation.
