Nintendo has released the first trailer for its upcoming Super Mario Bros film, teasing Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlie Day in action.<\/p>\n

The animated film, which is now confirmed to land in cinemas on 31st March 2023, is based on the video game franchise of the same name, adapted for the screen by Minions: The Rise of Gru<\/a> writer Matthew Fogel.<\/p>\n

Pratt teased today\u2019s trailer earlier this week, writing on Twitter<\/a> that fans can expect the film to be \u201cVERY special\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cCannot wait!!! Get ready to be blown away! Thursday October 6th. Official teaser trailer. Live on Nintendo Direct,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n<p>Mario\u2019s creator and developer Shigeru Miyamtoto announced <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/super-mario-bros-movie-cast\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">the star-studded voice cast<\/a> for the untitled movie in September 2021, which includes\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/jurassic-world-dominion-release-date-cast\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Jurassic World<\/a> star Pratt as iconic plumber Mario,\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/the-queens-gambit-season-two-release-date-netflix\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">The Queen\u2019s Gambit<\/a>\u2018s Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, while <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/entertainment\/is-its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia-on-netflix\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia<\/a>\u2018s Day takes on the role of Mario\u2019s brother Luigi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/the-lion-king-cinema-release-date-cast-plot-trailer-disney-beyonce-donald-glover\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">The Lion King<\/a>\u2018s Seth Rogen is rounding out the cast as Mario\u2019s original nemesis Donkey Kong alongside SNL\u2019s Fred Armisen (Cranky Kong), <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/pinocchio-disney-plus-review\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Pinocchio<\/a>\u2018s Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/invincible-season-2-release-date\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Invincible<\/a>\u2018s Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek) and <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/the-irishman-netflix-release-date-movie-martin-scorsese-cast-trailer-plot-story\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">The Irishman<\/a>\u2018s Sebastian Maniscalco (Spike).<\/p>\n<p>While the film\u2019s release date was originally set for 21st December 2022, the release date has since been pushed back to spring 2023, with NBCUniversal announcing that the Super Mario Bros movie will be available to stream on <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/peacock-how-to-watch-uk\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Peacock<\/a> 45 days after its cinematic debut.<\/p> <p>The Mario franchise was first established back in 1981, with the first game in the series \u2013 Donkey Kong \u2013 while the upcoming movie won\u2019t be the first film adaptation to come from the brand.<\/p>\n<p>Mario and Luigi were first brought to life on the big screen by Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo in the 1993 family comedy Super Mario Bros, with the likes of Dennis Hopper, Fiona Shaw and Fisher Stevens also starring in the live-action film.<\/p>\n<div class=\""editor-content\" mb-lg=\"\" hidden-print=\"\" js-piano-locked-content=\"\" data-placement=\""Body"\">\n<p><strong>Super Mario Bros will return to cinemas on 31st March 2023.
