<\/p>
John Cleese has revealed that he will be fronting a new show on GB News \u2013 claiming that he was attracted to the idea of working on a \u201cfree speech channel\u201d.<\/p>\n
The former Monty Python and Fawlty Towers star announced the news during an interview with Amol Rajan on BBC Radio 4 this morning, with further details expected to follow soon.<\/p>
\u201cI was approached and I didn\u2019t know who they were,\u201d Cleese explained. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t know much about modern television because I\u2019ve pretty much given up on it\u2026 and then I met one or two of the people concerned and had dinner with them and I liked them very much.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also revealed that he would be working with the comedian Andrew Doyle \u2013 who has been hosting the weekly show Free Speech Nation on the channel since 2021.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, the nice thing about talking to the GB News audience is that they may not be used to hearing the sort of things I\u2019ll be saying,\u201d Cleese added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, the BBC have not come to me and said \u2018Would you like to have some time on our shows?\u2019, and if they did I would say \u2018Not on your nelly\u2019, because I wouldn\u2019t get five minutes into the first show before I\u2019d been cancelled or censored!\u201d<\/p>\n
