Marriage Story director Noah Baumbach returns to Netflix<\/a> ahead of Oscars season with White Noise, an adaptation of Don DeLillo\u2019s 1985 novel of the same name.<\/p>\n

Adam Driver, who worked alongside Baumbach in Marriage Story<\/a>, and Little Women director Greta Gerwig, Baumbach\u2019s long-term collaborator and wife, star in the part family drama, part disaster movie alongside Black Monday\u2019s Don Cheadle.<\/p>\n

The film premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on 31st August 2022. It will be shown in select cinemas on 25th November before it lands on Netflix on 30th December<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

White Noise was also recently shown as part of the London BFI Film Festival programme.<\/p>

White Noise first reviews and reactions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

White Noise currently has an 86 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, with an audience score yet to be added ahead of the film\u2019s wider release.<\/p>\n

Reviews have been mostly favourable, with critics praising both Driver and Gerwig\u2019s perfomances. The Guardian<\/a> gave the movie a five-star review and called it \u201ca fascinating, invigorating spectacle\u201d.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/a>, on the other hand, wasn\u2019t as fully taken by the adaptation, calling it a \u201cnovel of ideas\u201d that didn\u2019t quite translate to the big screen.<\/p>\n

Adam Driver leads the cast as Jack Gladney, a professor of Hitler studies, while Greta Gerwig plays his wife Babbette. Don Cheadle plays Gladney\u2019s colleague, Murray Siskind.<\/p>\n

The Gladneys have four children, three of them from previous marraiges. Babette\u2019s children from a previous marriage are played by Raffey Cassidy (Denise) and May Nivola (Steffie), while Heinrich (played by Sam Nivola) is Jack\u2019s son, also from a previous marriage. The pair also have a young son.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the cast are Queen & Slim\u2019s Jodie Turner-Smith, German actor Lars Eidinger and Andr\u00e9 Benjamin.<\/p>\n

The film, like the novel, centres on big cheese academic Jack Gladney, who teaches Hitler studies, and his family. Both him and his pill-popping wife Babbette are on their fourth marriage and they have a brood of children from previous relationships, as well as one of their own.<\/p>\n

While the movie at first appears to be a family drama, things soon take a dark turn with an \u2018Airborne Toxic Event\u2019 affects their Midwestern community, leading them to evacuate in order to escape the chemical fallout.<\/p>\n
