Ben Elton has ruled out the possibility of a potential Blackadder reboot, revealing that he doesn\u2019t have any \u201cappetite\u201d for further seasons of the hit \u201980s comedy.<\/p>\n

Elton made the comments during an interview with Radio Times<\/strong>\u00a0magazine<\/strong> to promote the upcoming one-off return of Friday Night Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last year, the show\u2019s stars Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson \u2013 who played Edmund Blackadder and Baldrick across all four seasons \u2013 both addressed the possibility of a return.<\/p>\n
Atkinson explained that it \u201ccertainly\u201d wasn\u2019t \u201cimpossible\u201d<\/a> that the show might be revived at some point, but added: \u201cThat\u2019s about as optimistic as I can be.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d rather not speculate on when it could be set,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut Blackadder represented the creative energy we all had in the \u201980s. To try to replicate that 30 years on wouldn\u2019t be easy.\u201d<\/p>
Robinson later admitted that he would be keen to step back into his role at some point, although he revealed it might have to be in a different format<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, what Rowan has always said to me is if there was to be another Blackadder it shouldn\u2019t necessarily be another six-part television series,\u201d he said.\u201dWe should find another guise for it, another way of doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201c[Atkinson] once said to me wouldn\u2019t it be great if we could take over the Royal Tournament military tattoo one summer, it would be Blackadder\u2019s Royal Tournament,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not saying that would necessarily be the idea we went with but I think it ought to be possible to come up with something at some time.\u201d<\/p>\n
