Team GB will be sending two trampolinists to the Tokyo Olympics. <\/p>
This summer the world\u2019s best athletes will gather to compete at\u00a0the Tokyo Olympics 2020<\/a> \u2013 and among the disciplines showcased will be the relatively new trampolining.<\/p>\n However, there\u2019s already plenty of precedent for British fans to tune in and get behind the Team GB trampolinists, following a silver medal win at the most recent Rio Olympics.<\/p>\n Olympic silver medallist Bryony Page (and Britain\u2019s first ever female trampolinist to clinch an Olympic medal) is returning to compete at the Tokyo Olympics and hoping to repeat her success.<\/p>\n \u201cThe podium will be firmly in her sights for Tokyo,\u201d said Team GB chef de mission Mark England in a statement.<\/p>\n Read on for everything you need to know about trampolining at the Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n Trampoline gymnastics begins with the women\u2019s event and final on Friday 30th July<\/b> and the men\u2019s on\u00a0Saturday 31st July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Check out our guide on how to watch Olympics 2020<\/a> or see Olympics on TV today<\/a> for more details, timings, and exclusive expert analysis from some of the biggest names in world sport over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n Sir Chris Hoy, Beth Tweddle, Rebecca Adlington, Matthew Pinsent and Dame Jess Ennis-Hill are among the stars we have to being their esteemed opinions, so don\u2019t miss what they have to say.<\/p>\n Trampolining became an Olympic sport for the first time at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n Bryony Page and Laura Gallagher are representing Great Britain in trampolining at the Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n Page previously became the first British woman to win an Olympic medal in trampolining, when she won silver at the Rio Olympics in 2016.<\/p> Trampolinists can secure their place at an Olympic Games by scoring highly in the\u00a0World Cup rankings.<\/p>\n For example, Bryony Page came fourth at the 2020-2021 World Cup rankings, thus securing her place in Team GB for the Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n Her teammate Gallagher came sixth in the 2019 World Cup rankings, and will be making her Olympics debut later this year.<\/p>\n What a day! Page said: \u201cI\u2019m excited, honoured and proud to have been selected for Team GB. It\u2019s been a five-year journey since Rio and I\u2019ve had so much support from the team around me to get through that period so to now make it to my second Games feels extra special.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter such an amazing experience at Rio I\u2019m just looking forward to being at a Games environment again, Team GB make you feel so special, and I can\u2019t wait to compete again.\u201d<\/p>\n There\u2019s a long list of trampolining moves, with varying degrees of difficulty. A combination of these moves are used to create a competitive routine.<\/p>\n Examples of trampoline moves include: Triffis\u00a0<\/strong>(a triple somersault with a twist), Back Somersault<\/strong>,\u00a0Half Twist Jump<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0Killer\u00a0<\/strong>(double back somersault with four twists), and the Corkscrew<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Nine judges mark each individual routine, awarding and deducting points based on several aspects of the performance.<\/p>\n Points are awarded for: time in flight\/in the air, difficulty of routine, and execution of routine.
