While fans of The Wheel can\u2019t wait for it to return for season 3, Michael McIntyre will also be crossing the pond for an American remake of the gameshow \u2013 but he\u2019s had to make a few changes.<\/p>\n

The comedian, who began hosting the show back in November 2020, has revealed that he was chosen to present the US version and subsequently had to make some amendments to the show \u2013 such as making the titular wheel smaller.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe difference was we had a smaller wheel,\u201d he told\u00a0RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press. \u201cIt\u2019s a six person wheel because there are ads. I quite like the ads to be honest \u2013 it was quite nice to be able to have a little break. I quite like doing that big spiel like Chris Tarrant, setting the game up and giving high drama going into breaks.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the team also had to \u201creally edit\u201d the shutdowns on the US show and refer to \u201cthe prize pot\u201d as \u201cthe bank\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the UK people tend to just go, \u2018I\u2019m going to shutdown them.\u2019 In America, it was 45 minutes of apologies and reasons. They felt so, so bad about everything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFans of the show will notice that you don\u2019t fill the prize pot anymore. We used to have a prize pot but the Americans were like, \u2018We\u2019re filling the bank, it\u2019s the bank, right? And then you cash out surely.\u2019 And that does make a lot more sense. So now we\u2019re cashing out.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the contestants on NBC\u2019s The Wheel, McIntyre said that they are \u201cso full on\u201d in comparison to their UK counterparts.<\/p>

\u201cWe had contestants bursting into tears when they were selected by the contestant wheel. They were like, \u2018I\u2019m just so happy to be here.\u2019 They give you so much. The experts give you so much. It was very full on, which gave me more to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cWhen everyone gets it right on The Wheel, there\u2019s a bonus \u00a31,000. I would just say that here, I would just go, \u2018Oh, everyone\u2019s got it right.\u2019 But in America, huge graphics come up on the screen and it goes \u2018Perfect Wheel\u2019 and everything goes gold and spontaneously, everyone shouts, \u2018Perfect Wheel!’\u201d<\/p>\n

The upcoming season of The Wheel will see a new raft of celebrities help contestants answer questions on a variety of quiz topics, including Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>\u2018s Anton Du Beke, Love Island<\/a>\u2018s Iain Stirling and athlete Kadeena Cox.<\/p>\n
