Doctor Who\u2019s centenary special, The Power of the Doctor, has it all \u2013 the Daleks, the Cybermen (and Cyber-Masters!), returning companions<\/a>, a departing Doctor\u2026 and even a dance sequence.<\/p>\n

Having captured the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), the Master (Sacha Dhawan) \u2013 who\u2019d been posing as the Russian mystic Rasputin \u2013 decided to taunt his nemesis by busting some of his best dance moves. His backing track of choice? Boney M\u2019s 1978 disco hit Rasputin, what else?<\/p>\n

(Fans with long memories will recall this isn\u2019t even the first time that the Master has mocked the Doctor by dancing to a jaunty pop tune \u2013 see 2007 episode Last of the Time Lords<\/a> for another memorable example.)<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> about the Master\u2019s moves, Dhawan said: \u201cWith that particular scene, I read it in the script, and I just went, \u2018Ah, this is gonna be fun!\u2019 \u2013 but I said to myself, \u2018Don\u2019t have too much fun!\u2019 because I didn\u2019t want it to be silly.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI listened to the song quite a bit as well, just because I love it. It\u2019s such a sexy song, it\u2019s just so cool.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides the Master cutting a rug, the sequence in question has a lot else going on \u2013 the Daleks and Cybermen are also in attendance (and even sharing a weary look in reaction to the Master\u2019s antics), while the Master has the Doctor trapped in a complex device designed to force a regeneration.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a big scene and we didn\u2019t have that long to shoot it,\u201d Dhawan revealed. \u201cWith Doctor Who<\/a>, there\u2019s a lot of big epic scenes to do and we\u2019ve got a short amount of time to do that\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith that particular scene, it was like, \u2018We\u2019ve only got one or two takes\u2019 so your adrenaline\u2019s going already and I just thought to myself, \u2018I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever be in this position again, where I am dressed as Rasputin, doing something like this, so the camera\u2019s rolling, just go for it, see what happens.\u2019 And yeah, I went for it! It was just so cool.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Though The Power of the Doctor is expected to mark Dhawan\u2019s final appearance as the Master, the actor also told RadioTimes.com<\/strong> that he\u2019d be open to reprising the role to face off against Ncuti Gatwa\u2019s Doctor<\/a>.<\/p>
