Following tonight\u2019s BBC centenary special, The Power of the Doctor<\/a>, David Tennant and Catherine Tate will appear in three special episodes, set to air in November 2023 to mark the show\u2019s 60th anniversary.<\/p>\n Fans saw Jodie Whittaker\u2019s Thirteenth Doctor regenerate into Tennant in tonight\u2019s episode<\/a>, with this new incarnation officially being referred to as \u201cthe Fourteenth Doctor\u201d.<\/p> Following the anniversary specials, Sex Education<\/a> star Ncuti Gatwa will then take control of the TARDIS as the Fifteenth Doctor,\u00a0with his first episode airing \u201cover the festive period\u201d in 2023.<\/p>\n It\u2019s as yet unclear if this means a New Year\u2019s Day episode, or if Doctor Who will be returning to a Christmas Day slot.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we\u2019ve got plenty more surprises on the way!\u201d said returning showrunner Russell T Davies. \u201cThe path to Ncuti\u2019s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun!<\/p>\n \u201cAnd how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble (Catherine Tate)?
