Last weekend, the actor made his long-awaited return to Doctor Who in BBC Centenary special The Power of the Doctor<\/a>, which ended with a surprising regeneration<\/a> for Jodie Whittaker\u2019s Thirteenth Doctor.<\/p>\n Rather than transforming into Ncuti Gatwa\u2019s incoming series lead<\/a>, it was Tennant who we saw back in the TARDIS, which sets the stage for next year\u2019s 60th anniversary specials<\/a>.<\/p>\n When asked on BBC News if he was concerned about the prospect of tarnishing his esteemed Doctor Who run with a subpar return, Tennant countered that Davies\u2019s involvement assured him that wouldn\u2019t be the case.<\/p> \u201cIt didn\u2019t really feel like a risk,\u201d he said. \u201cI knew that Russell T Davies was in charge and I love working with him and I love receiving a script with his name on the front, so that just felt like it was a bit of a no-brainer, really.\u201d<\/p>\n That said, in a separate interview this week on BBC Radio 4\u2019s Today programme, Tennant admitted that he thought it could be \u201cdifficult to get in the groove again\u201d after so much time away from Doctor Who.<\/p>\n He continued that Doctor Who \u201cruns through my life as if through a stick of rock\u201d, having been a huge fan as a child and quickly becoming a household name during his first stint on the show.<\/p>\n \u201c[It\u2019s a] lovely lovely thing to get to revisit something that was such a wonderful, happy, significant time in my life, and you move on from it with a whole mixture of emotions \u2013 and one of those is sadness and regret,\u201d added Tennant on BBC News.<\/p>\n \u201cSo to be able to revisit that and to get another shot, it was a total joy from start to finish.\u201d<\/p>\n Doctor Who is available to stream on <\/strong>BBC iPlayer<\/strong><\/a> with episodes of the classic series also available on BritBox \u2013 you can sign up for a <\/strong>7-day free trial here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Check out more of our <\/strong>Sci-Fi<\/strong><\/a> coverage or visit our <\/strong>TV Guide<\/strong><\/a> to see what\u2019s on tonight.<\/strong><\/p>\n The latest issue of Radio Times magazine is on sale now \u2013\u00a0subscribe now<\/a> and get the next 12 issues for only \u00a31.
