Krysty Wilson-Cairns already has some very impressive screenwriting credits to her name \u2013 including Last Night in Soho and 1917 \u2013 and her latest film The Good Nurse<\/a>\u00a0is another triumph.<\/p>\n

The film is directed by Tobias Lindholm and tells the chilling true story of how nurse Charles Cullen (Eddie Redmayne) murdered a huge number of patients while working at various hospitals across New Jersey \u2013 before he was eventually found out by his colleague and friend Amy Loughren (Jessica Chastain).<\/p>\n

Wilson-Cairns was working on the script for a number of years before the film was made, adapting it from the non-fiction book of the same name by Charles Graeber, and naturally, she was unable to fit every aspect of the case into the screenplay.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, there was so much,\u201d she told RadioTimes.com<\/a> when asked which parts of Graeber\u2019s book had to be left out.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, we were telling the story from Amy\u2019s point of view, so we never really could go out with it \u2013 but the way in which Charles Cullen was passed from hospital to hospital, the way in which he was dismissed for stealing supplies like toilet paper, or he was dismissed for putting the wrong dates on his application form.<\/p>

\u201cAnd every single one of these hospitals \u2013 or at least, the people within these hospitals \u2013 strongly suspected that he was murdering patients, and not just one or two, murdering multiple patients. And I just think that to me is such a failing of everything \u2013 of humanity, of the system, of law enforcement procedures.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that was so galling. And, you know, there are obviously parts of that in there, but we couldn\u2019t put that in.\u201d<\/p>\n
