Ncuti Gatwa has opened up about how \u201cpowerful\u201d his upcoming turn as the Doctor in Doctor Who<\/a> is for representation.<\/p>\n

The Sex Education actor is set to take over the TARDIS reins in 2023<\/a>, despite Whittaker\u2019s final episode, The Power of the Doctor<\/a>, delivering a regeneration twist<\/a> that saw David Tennant reprise the role as part of the show\u2019s 60th anniversary<\/a> celebrations.<\/p>\n

Gatwa spoke about the series\u2019s importance during a lunch hosted by the BBC and Disney, whose streamer Disney Plus<\/a> will be the home of Doctor Who outside of the UK. He said the roots of the series \u201care so deep in British culture and the fabric of British-ness that as a Rwandan immigrant to the country, it feels just really powerful\u201d.<\/p>\n
