\u201cI think there\u2019s two things,\u201d he said. \u201cOne is simply that in America, well, there\u2019s being in a vast country, it\u2019s socially chaotic, you know, we\u2019re all fascinated by America. That\u2019s what, nearly 300 million people there. And it\u2019s a sort of petri dish of competing ideas and ways of life and everything is going on there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like people enjoy it to make crass generalisation, the experience of being on TV.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also revealed that part of it is due to his level of fame.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe other part of it is, of course, that I have a lower profile,\u201d Theroux explained. \u201cI have virtually no profile in the US, so I arrive as someone who\u2019s not necessarily known, although that has changed and I\u2019m easily Googleable, yeah, but at least on the streets or at events, I don\u2019t attract attention.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn issue here, especially if I\u2019m out on location filming in a public place at a supermarket, at a demonstration, I\u2019m liable to be approached for selfies, which I normally would be happy to to do, but it\u2019s just weird to be doing it while I\u2019m trying to film.\u201d<\/p>
