The Thirteenth Doctor will tackle the Weeping Angels in Jodie Whittaker’s final full season. <\/p>
Blink and you\u2019ll miss it: we\u2019ve just been handed a teaser for Doctor Who<\/a> series 13, after former showrunner Steven Moffat confirmed it would feature Weeping Angels.<\/p>\n The nightmarish predatory monsters were created by then-writer Steven Moffat back in 2007, when they made their debut in the episode Blink<\/a>.<\/p>\n They\u2019ve since been ranked among the scariest Doctor Who adversaries in the show\u2019s history \u2014 and now they\u2019re back.<\/p>\n The return of the Weeping Angels will help mark Jodie Whittaker\u2019s final full season<\/a> in the role of the Thirteenth Doctor, after it was recently confirmed that she and show runner Chris Chibnall will bow out next year.<\/p>\n \u201cIt breaks my heart when a Doctor Who resigns,\u201d Moffat said in an Instagram post. \u201cIt feels like there\u2019s a vacancy in the universe. Who will keep the lights on for the children? Who will fight the monsters in our dreams? But it\u2019s too soon to be sad \u2013 there\u2019s going to be a whole new season of Jodie\u2019s charming, fast, brilliant, silly Doctor! And she going to fight THE WEEPING ANGELS!!\u201d<\/p>\n The former show runner added, \u201cGo get \u2018em, Jodie. I was going to say thank you for keeping the TARDIS safe \u2013 but no! Thank you for keeping it dangerous!\u201d<\/p>\n A post shared by Steven Moffat (@stevenwmoffat)<\/a><\/p><\/div><\/blockquote> RadioTimes.com<\/a> contacted the BBC for confirmation, but a spokesperson declined to comment.<\/p>\n In a previous statement, Chibnall said: \u201cJodie and I made a \u2018three series and out\u2019 pact with each other at the start of this once-in-a-lifetime blast. So now our shift is done, and we\u2019re handing back the TARDIS keys.<\/p>\n \u201cJodie\u2019s magnificent, iconic Doctor has exceeded all our high expectations. She\u2019s been the gold standard leading actor, shouldering the responsibility of being the first female Doctor with style, strength, warmth, generosity and humour. She captured the public imagination and continues to inspire adoration around the world, as well as from everyone on the production. I can\u2019t imagine working with a more inspiring Doctor \u2013 so I\u2019m not going to!<\/p>\n \u201cFor me, leading this exceptional team has been unrivalled creative fun, and one of the great joys of my career. I\u2019m so proud of the people we\u2019ve worked with and the stories we\u2019ve told. To finish our time on the show with an additional Special, after the pandemic changed and challenged our production plans, is a lovely bonus.
