With Ncuti Gatwa soon to take over the reins of Doctor Who<\/a> as the Fifteenth Doctor (following David Tennant\u2019s return<\/a>\u00a0as the now Fourteenth Doctor), Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi has weighed in on the casting, saying the \u201camazing\u201d actor will bring \u201cdepth\u201d to the role.<\/p>\n Capaldi has previously praised Gatwa\u2019s \u201chuge talent and heart\u201d<\/a>, and now, speaking with BBC Scotland\u2019s The Edit, Capaldi added that Gatwa\u2019s casting was \u201cfantastic\u201d and \u201ca brilliant choice\u201d.<\/p>\n He said that Gatwa is \u201cabsolutely amazing\u201d and noted: \u201cThe fact that he\u2019s Scottish and Rwandan, you know, that\u2019s a brilliant combination.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked what he thought Gatwa would bring to the role, Capaldi said: \u201cOh, energy and humour and wit \u2013 and fun, you know, as well as depth. You know, Doctor Who is a great part. You can\u2019t lose with it. It\u2019s a joy to play. And I think he\u2019ll just really grab it with both hands and get on with it.\u201d<\/p>\n “Scottish people are just amazing – they’re quite cosmic”
