Another show which has become known for its extensive recasts is The Crown<\/a>, which every two seasons has brought in an entirely new cast to adapt for its characters\u2019 ages.<\/p>\n Where Claire Foy and Matt Smith originated the roles of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, they were then passed down to Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies and now, for the show\u2019s upcoming fifth season, Imelda Staunton and Jonathan Pryce<\/a> have taken over as the leads.<\/p>\n Speaking with this week\u2019s Radio Times magazine<\/strong>, Pryce has suggested that Foy and Smith had an \u201ceasy\u201d job in comparison to himself and Staunton \u2013 and he gave a very clear reason as to why.<\/p>\n Pryce said of Foy and Smith: \u201cThey had it easy because for a lot of people it was just a costume drama. Whereas [the Queen and Philip] are so well known in the years we are playing them. People were alive when these things happened.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was Peter [Morgan]\u2019s challenge, to put some emotional life into these events, and still be honest and truthful. I think he\u2019s done that really well.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Staunton added that it was a \u201cvery heavy baton that was being passed over\u201d from the previous actors, so she said she has to \u201ctry and match what had gone before\u201d.<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cI didn\u2019t want to let the whole thing down.
