Amongst their concerns were reports that scenes would depict Dominic West\u2019s Charles<\/a> meeting with Jonny Lee Miller\u2019s Major to secretly scheme about ousting the Queen from the throne.<\/p>\n However, speaking with RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press ahead of the new season, Olivia Williams, who is taking on the role of Camilla Parker Bowles, said that the palace shouldn\u2019t be frightened of what the Netflix<\/a> series portrays, as the show is about the crown first and foremost \u2013 rather than individual members of the Royal Family.<\/p>\n \u201cI think what\u2019s very exciting about the season and a show that\u2019s had this amount of space to mature is that Peter [Morgan] is now writing standalone episodes and he writes an episode that\u2019s about divorce in almost a philosophical way, and how it affects a couple who aren\u2019t in the public eye,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I don\u2019t think it\u2019s something that the palace should be frightened of because he\u2019s very careful to always turn these events back to how they affect the crown. The series is called The Crown, not Charles or Diana or the Queen. It\u2019s about the crown. And so I think it\u2019s both interesting and philosophical and relevant to that.\u201d<\/p>\n The Crown\u2019s fifth season is set to depict events from the 1990s, meaning it is expected to grapple with the dissolution of Charles\u2019s marriage to Diana, played in the new season by West and Elizabeth Debicki respectively.<\/p> Williams\u2019s comments reflect similar statements made by the show\u2019s creator Morgan, who recently said that while the new season will have\u00a0\u201cpainful memories\u201d<\/a> for Charles, it \u201cdoesn\u2019t mean that, with the benefit of hindsight, history will be unkind to him, or the monarchy\u201d.<\/p>\n Morgan added that \u201cthe show certainly isn\u2019t\u201d unkind to Charles, saying: \u201cI have enormous sympathy for a man in his position \u2014 indeed, a family in their position.
