Staunton will play Elizabeth II in the final two seasons of the Netflix drama. <\/p>
Netflix\u2019s The Crown has officially unveiled its next Queen, revealing a first-look image of Imelda Staunton as Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n
Staunton will follow Claire Foy (seasons one and two) and Olivia Colman (seasons three and four) in taking on the role of the Queen for the drama\u2019s final two seasons.<\/p>\n

The Crown<\/a>\u2018s fourth season launched on Netflix<\/a> in November 2020, with the next season not expected to premiere until 2022.<\/p>\n
Starring alongside Staunton will be Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip<\/a>, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret<\/a>, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana<\/a>, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles<\/a>\u00a0and Jonny Lee Miller as John Major<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Dominic West has also been linked to the part of Prince Charles, previously played by Josh O\u2019Connor, though this casting is yet to be officially confirmed.<\/p>\n
Shortly after being cast, Staunton said: \u201cI have loved watching The Crown from the very start. As an actor it was a joy to see how both Claire Foy and Olivia Colman brought something special and unique to Peter Morgan\u2019s scripts. I am genuinely honoured to be joining such an exceptional creative team and to be taking The Crown to its conclusion.\u201d<\/p>
Speaking to\u00a0Radio Times<\/strong><\/a>, her predecessor Colman expressed her support for Staunton. \u201cImelda is extraordinary and she\u2019s going to do it all much better than me. I can\u2019t wait to watch what she does,\u201d she said. Colman added she \u201cwouldn\u2019t dare\u201d pass on any advice on tackling the role.<\/p>\n
Tobias Menzies, who played Prince Philip opposite Colman, likewise joked that it would be \u201cimpudent\u201d of him to offer his successor Pryce any advice.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a Knight of the Realm now \u2013 far be it from me to give him any advice. I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll be brilliant,\u201d Menzies told RadioTimes.com<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI hope he is going to get as much out of playing him as I did. I went on a real kind of journey if I\u2019m honest.\u201d<\/p>\n
