Former footballer David Beckham is teaming up with Disney Plus<\/a> for new show Save Our Squad<\/a> \u2013 a docuseries in which the sporting legend mentors an East London under 14\u2019s team.<\/p>\n

Returning to where his footballing career began \u2013 the Echo Premier League \u2013 Beckham agrees to help Westward Boys, who are yet to win a match, in an attempt to prevent their team\u2019s relegation.<\/p>\n

The four-parter arrives this week and while we don\u2019t know a huge amount about the football club, Beckham has teased that they remind him of his younger self<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I was as cheeky as most of them. I think I was more like probably Orlando, I didn\u2019t say a word,\u201d he told RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press. \u201cI was small, I was skinnier than all of these boys, but I was from East London like them and I loved the game. So the similarities came from that really.\u201d<\/p>\n

Disney Plus docuseries Save Our Squad with David Beckham follows the football legend as he heads back to East London \u2013 where his sporting journey began in the Echo Premier League.<\/p>\n

Joining up with under 14\u2019s grassroots side Westward Boys, the documentary looks at Beckham\u2019s efforts to guide the team, who haven\u2019t won a game all season, and save them from the risk of relegation.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s currently unknown whether viewers can expect any other celebrity cameos throughout the show, Beckham has said that the young stars of the documentary are \u201ca great group of boys\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I got to know the boys, they were all incredible. They are really incredible boys and that\u2019s what I was most nervous about and most excited about actually,\u201d he told RadioTimes.com<\/strong> and other press. \u201cI\u2019m from East London, I know what the kids are like from East London. They\u2019re good kids, they\u2019re grounded kids, but they\u2019re hard kids as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
