The Mrs Harris Goes to Paris<\/a> actor \u2013 who is taking over from Helena Bonham Carter to play Princess Margaret in season 5 \u2013 said the story has to be \u201cmulti-layered\u201d and ultimately \u201cdramatically interesting\u201d in order to captivate its audience.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the end of the day, you have to make a dramatic choice because we\u2019re not making a documentary about the royals. It has to be dramatically interesting,\u201d Manville said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou have to hold your audience, so your story has to have an arc. It has to have balance. And you can\u2019t just tell one story, it\u2019s got to be multi-layered. You\u2019ve got to cover this multitude of characters, and serve them all.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cThe public is interested in all of them to some degree, some more than others, so you\u2019ve got to spread it out. I\u2019m not sure what he [creator Peter Morgan] left out, but I imagine that the agenda has to be that you\u2019re making a drama, and you have to make that drama interesting, and give it peaks and troughs, and highs and lows, and balance.\u201d<\/p>\n Dame Judi Dench has accused the series of \u201ccrude sensationalism\u201d<\/a> in an open letter in The Times, in which she also voiced her concern that some viewers \u201cmay take the show\u2019s version of history as being wholly true\u201d.<\/p>\n Dench added that an explicit disclaimer<\/a> stating that it is a work of fiction should be added to each episode as a \u201cmark of respect to a sovereign who served her people so dutifully for 70 years\u201d.<\/p>\n When contacted for comment by\u00a0RadioTimes.com<\/a>, a Netflix<\/a> spokesperson said: \u201cThe Crown has always been presented as a drama based on historical events.<\/p>\n \u201cSeason 5 is a fictional dramatisation, imagining what could have happened behind closed doors during a significant decade for the royal family \u2013 one that has already been scrutinised and well-documented by journalists, biographers and historians.\u201d<\/p>\n The Crown season 5 will be released on November 9th 2022 and you can watch seasons 1-4 right now on\u00a0Netflix<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Looking for something else to watch?
