Peter Kay has announced he will perform a monthly residency at London\u2019s iconic O2 Arena. This news follows hot on the heels of his comeback tour announcement earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The tour represents Peter Kay\u2019s return to the spotlight after 12 years away from stand-up comedy. In that time, he\u2019s won awards for Peter Kay\u2019s Car Share \u2014 a sitcom which he wrote and starred in \u2014 but not performed the sort of live stand-up that made his name. Now, he\u2019s set to become the first comedian ever to have a residency at the O2 Arena.<\/p>\n
The well-loved Bolton funny-man is set to appear at the famous venue once a month for 11 months, beginning on December 16th.<\/p>\n
A long-running residency at the O2 is a tough gig though, as he joked to the BBC: \u201cThere\u2019s basically been me and Prince who have done it and look what happened to him\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cNo matter who you are, if you\u2019re not funny they won\u2019t laugh,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve done a few \u2013 people keep calling them secret gigs but they\u2019re not secret\u2026 I over-analyse it all\u2026 but anyway, they\u2019ve been going well.\u201d<\/p>\n
