Coronation Street star Gabrielle Glaister says she would love to join EastEnders<\/a> next, as her current role comes to an end.<\/p>\n

Glaister plays Fern Lindon on the ITV soap, who discovered a striking likeness to local resident Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove). While Fern initially offered Bernie a deal to take of advantage of their resemblance, she soon cooked up a plan to frame Bernie for stealing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bernie was arrested and is awaiting a prison sentence \u2013 but this week\u2019s Coronation Street<\/a> sees her attempt to prove her innocence by locating Fern. Unfortunately, Bernie finds herself kidnapped<\/a> on the way to smoke out dodgy Fern!<\/p>\n

Still, it looks like Fern will be making her exit soon, and the actress who plays her has been contemplating where she could appear next on our screens.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no idea [what I\u2019m going to do next],\u201d says Glaister. \u201cI\u2019m struggling with empty nest syndrome as my son\u2019s gone off to university, so somebody needs to give me a job!\u201d<\/p>

Pondering this further as she spoke to TV Times, she adds: \u201cI love doing telly and I love soaps. I\u2019ve done Family Affairs and Emmerdale, as well as Corrie and Brookside, but I haven\u2019t done EastEnders yet \u2013 I\u2019d definitely consider it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The star played\u00a0

\u201cIt sounds dull, but I just love working,\u201d she explains. Meanwhile, Glaister expanded on how her role in Corrie came about, after she and co-star Hazlegrove had been constantly mistaken for each other<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a bit of a gamble, but I think it has really worked, and we\u2019ve had a lovely time filming it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of Hazlegrove, Glaister adds: \u201cWe\u2019d met briefly once before\u2026 but we\u2019re firm friends now.\u201d<\/p>\n
