Jodie Whittaker is leaving Doctor Who, but who should replace her? <\/p>

It\u2019s official, Jodie Whittaker is leaving Doctor Who<\/a>\u00a0alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall.<\/p>\n

The upcoming thirteenth series and the three Doctor Who specials<\/a> that will follow it will be\u00a0Whittaker and Chibnall\u2019s last. With the specials set to air across 2022, it will be a while yet before we see another actor take on the Time Lord mantle \u2013 but that doesn\u2019t mean fans can\u2019t speculate.<\/p>\n

So, Doctor Who<\/a> fans, who do you think would be the best replacement for Whittaker? Vote for your favourite in our poll.<\/p>

There are plenty of big names to choose from \u2013 Michael Sheen and Richard Ayoade have long been fan favourites for the role \u2013 as well as some rising stars who could sweep in and put a new spin to it, including Giri\/Haji actor Will Sharpe, The Crown\u2019s Erin Doherty and It\u2019s A Sin star Olly Alexander.<\/p>\n

Rumours that Alexander could be the next Doctor were denied by his agent back in June but that doesn\u2019t mean the musician won\u2019t consider regeneration further down the line. Alternatively, we think either of his It\u2019s A Sin co-stars, Lydia West and Seyan Sarvan, would also make a fine Doctor.<\/p>\n

Many fans have also suggested Jo Martin should take over following her popular turn as a past version of the Doctor last series.<\/p>\n

Other suggestions include Years & Years\u2019 T\u2019Nia Miller, Fleabag\u2019s Andrew Scott, two Line of Duty<\/a> stars \u2013 Vicky McClure and Kelly McDonald \u2013 and many more.<\/p>\n
