Capaldi hinted he wouldn’t fancy returning for a multi-Doctor story. <\/p>
Fans of Doctor Who<\/a> eager for another multi-Doctor story, avert your eyes: Peter Capaldi, who played the Twelfth Doctor, has said he \u201cwouldn\u2019t really fancy\u201d returning as part of one.<\/p>\n Capaldi, who plays The Thinker in James Gunn\u2019s The Suicide Squad<\/a>, discussed his thoughts on multi-Doctor storylines during a chat on BBC Radio\u2019s Sunday with Steven Rainey<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t really fancy that,\u201d he said when asked whether he would be up for reprising the role alongside a new Doctor.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are so many Doctors now,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m quite happy with what I did, you know, I loved my time on Doctor Who, but I think the more multi-Doctor stories you have the less effective they are, really.\u201d<\/p> With Doctor Who\u2019s 60th anniversary looming (November 2023), many fans had hoped for all 13 Doctors \u2013 or more likely 14 by then, following the news that Jodie Whittaker is leaving Doctor Who<\/a>\u00a0after series 13 \u2013 to be together on screen.<\/p>\n Of course, Capaldi could be bluffing. David Tennant reprised his role as the Tenth Doctor for the series\u2019 50th anniversary, despite previously claiming he wouldn\u2019t return to the TARDIS.<\/p>\n Even if Capaldi didn\u2019t return, Tennant, Matt Smith and Whittaker<\/a> confirmed they would be up for a multi-Doctor story featuring all their generations.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, when we all get back on set, I\u2019m inviting everyone!\u201d Whittaker said.<\/p>\n Tennant added: \u201cIt\u2019s not really up to us to decide. But we all like hanging out together, so it would be nice to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n There have even been hints that Christopher Eccleston could be involved in a multi-Doctor<\/a> story in future following his Big Finish adventure.
