Jonah Hill has opened up about how the \u201cbrutal\u201d media fuelled \u201cnegative feelings\u201d about himself in new Netflix documentary Stutz.<\/p>\n

The film, which is directed by and features the Oscar-nominated actor, introduces Hill\u2019s psychiatrist Phil Stutz and chronicles his life and career as a therapist to the stars.<\/p>\n

Hill reveals in the documentary that he\u00a0began seeing Stutz after struggling with his self-esteem as a teenager and finding that achieving fame \u201cdidn\u2019t cure\u201d any of those issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I met you I was 33, maybe. I had an incredible amount of success,\u201d he tells Stutz. \u201c[But] inherently, at my core, I\u2019m still this unlovable person. The work is inching towards not only accepting [that] it\u2019s great to be this person, but that\u2019s still very hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt made me beyond depressed,\u201d he added. \u201cAt the same time, the media kept being really brutal about my weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just kind of free game for anyone to sort of hit my sore spot. I\u2019d be so angry. It kept me from feeling any sense of being able to grow past negative feelings about myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that he\u2019s made the film to \u201cgive therapy and the tools\u201d that he\u2019s learned to as many people as possible.<\/p>

\u201cI made this movie because I love Phil, because I love the life these tools allowed for me to have. And it doesn\u2019t matter what people think about the movie. It just matters that we finished it together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old rose to fame after starring in Judd Apatow\u2019s 2007 comedy Superbad and has since appeared in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Funny People, Megamind, Moneyball, 21 Jump Street and The Wolf of Wall Street, for which he received an Academy Award nomination.<\/p>\n
