The A Word spin-off series Ralph & Katie<\/a> arrived on our screens earlier this year, with the two leads played by Leon Harrop and Sarah Gordy<\/a> joined by co-stars Pooky Quesnel and Matt Greenwood, also returning as their A Word characters.<\/p>\n

However, given The A Word\u2019s extensive cast, not everybody from the original show was able to return for the spin-off, and it seems that\u2019s something Harrop would like to see rectified in a potential second season.<\/p>\n

RadioTimes.com<\/a> caught up with Harrop exclusively as he was chosen for this year\u2019s BAFTA Breakthrough scheme, which provides a springboard to creatives in film, games and TV.<\/p>\n

Asked whether there were any cast members from The A Word that he would want to see return for a second season of Ralph & Katie<\/a>, Harrop said: \u201cYes \u2013 Rebecca [Hughes, played by Molly Wright], Christopher Eccleston, Morven Christie, Joe [Hughes, played by Max Vento] and Lee Ingleby.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>It was explained early in Ralph & Katie season 1 that Eccleston\u2019s character Maurice was \u201ctrekking in Nepal, the Annapurna ranges\u201d.\u00a0Ralph\u2019s mum Louise, played by Pooky Quesnel, says in the first episode that he had \u201cjust turned 60 and he needed a new challenge, he\u2019d run out of people to annoy in Cumbria\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As he hasn\u2019t been written out of the series permanently, there is always therefore a chance that we could see Eccleston return should a second season be confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to Ralph & Katie season 2, <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/ralph-katie-spin-off-prank-newsupdate\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Harrop<\/a> said that it was \u201call in the air at the moment\u201d, but added that the team had their \u201cfingers crossed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fans are shouting out for season 2.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked how he felt to have been chosen for this year\u2019s BAFTA Breakthrough scheme, Harrop added: \u201cI\u2019m over the moon. I\u2019m really, really chuffed. I\u2019m really excited that I\u2019ve got this, it\u2019s amazing!\u201d<\/p> <p>Alongside Harrop, individuals chosen for this year\u2019s Breakthrough scheme from the UK include: Alex Thomas, Alyx Jones, Ambika Mod, Chloe\u0308 Fairweather, Diana Olifirova, Emily Brown, Jack Rooke, Jamal Green, Joanna Boateng, Marley Morrison, Morag Taylor, Nell Barlow, Nico\u0302le Lecky, Paul Sng, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Runyararo Mapfumo, Sophie Cunningham, Theo Williams, Zachary Soares and Luciana Nascimento.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, US Breakthroughs include: Alex Pritz, Amrit Kaur, Brandon Perea, Charlotte Hornsby, Clare Knight, Daphne Qin Wu, Ellie Foumbi, Megan Fox, Melissa Adeyemo, Rebeca Huntt, Robert Ouyang Rusli and So Yun Um.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ralph & Katie season 1 is available now on <a href=\"\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/iplayer\/episodes\/m001cs9j\/ralph-katie"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">BBC iPlayer<\/a>\u00a0.
